Excellent report.
Callum Lang (just 2 days older than Jordan Ponticelli) scores against us, yet our 19 year old prolific striker can't even make the bench.

If only it was so simple.

Lang - started youth career at Liverpool in 2013.

Ponticelli - started youth career here in 2017.

Nowt to do with age. All to do with experience and coaching or lack of.

Why was pontecelli not picked up before that?

He was only picked up because other clubs were looking at him. Our club won’t look at anyone over 16 unless they’ve already been in a academy.

But why wasn't he spotted as a kid or was he a late developer

I may be wrong, but I think he just wasn't spotted. It was Gordon Strachan's foundation that picked him up wasn't it?

He was at strachan and the club were tipped off that a lot of clubs were looking at him. Club were basically told to get the deal done ASAP or lose him. He’d been prolific at junior level right through all age groups but club never bothered for some reason.
