When SISU arrived in 2007/8, there is little doubt that their reason for purchase was the expectation of a quick return to the Premiership, as demonstrated by their nett spend of 3 to 4M on new players in 2008 and the appointment of Chris Coleman,at that time a fairly big name.
I have never believed theories about complicated tax issues or dumping of debt into the club as their objective for ownership, but I believe there came a point when plan A was deemed to have failed and plan B was hatched which involved generating a return on their investment from ownership of the Ricoh and player sales, and much less emphasis on getting a return from the on-field activities.
Reasons for believing this, (apart from all the litigation)
No apparent attempt to avoid relegation from the Championship, no change of manager at a point that might have saved us (as they did this season)
Comments inferring that our turnover was not sustainable for a position above League 1
SISU seemed happy with the ground arrangement for the duration of plan A
Now plan B appears to have failed, in my mind there can only be two options that make any business sense whatsoever, either crystallise the losses and walk away, or return to plan A.
Considering the appointment of TM, I believe SISU have returned to plan A, for one more attempt, and that TM has persuaded them that it can be done, at least part of the way, without too much extra investment.
The latest comment on the CCFC website confirms my thoughts.
“We’ve made that statement now by bringing him in and we see this as a fresh start in taking the club forward"
