Its a fair point but then what irritates me is when these other parties then pretend to care about the football club and pretend they have considered the interest of the football club in a bid to win support from the easily influenced ccfc fans.
Total madness if it can't wash its face why bother
It's an investment in the community? Alot of people want one, alot of people signed a petition to have one in the city. It doesn't always have to be about profit for value for money. Especially when it's a community asset.
1964-1968. Miss Snelgrove the Drama teacher, phwoarrrr.(Holly willoughbooby lookalike,) Jack Lemon headmaster, Bullbeck, Grove housemaster(Twat) I was in Hood house. I once wagged school in the woods with some others(Local bobby caught us) never wagged again lol.
Looks like you got there just after I left at the end of '63. I was in Stoneleigh.

Blimey you two pre date Richard Keys at Whitley.
I am with skyblueindorset as ex stoneleigh house myself.
Shit me too. Joe Short was Stoneleigh house master when I started, Mr Castledon took over in early 70's.
The housemaster was Joe Short and when I started there the headmaster was Fred Lewis.Forget the name of Stoneleigh housemaster but I remember his nickname... "Spitfire" lol
I thought the council had to always think about profit which is why they had to sell their interest in ACL. CCFC is a community asset isn't it?

FFS you can't really be this stupid. I have not said everyone is part of some big conspiracy, I have said given the information we have, along with the rumours we have heard - some from better sources than others, we should be slightly concerned that Wasps have the Higgs in their sights and our staying there may not be on their agenda if they do.
I would rather the question is asked now, its a very simple question to answer, than wait and find out we have no academy any more. Not sure why you're so up in arms at the thought of one simple question being asked and way you see that as a much worse option than just waiting and seeing if we get kicked out.
Maybe if some questions had been asked earlier regarding the sale of ACL it might not have ended up in the hands of Wasps. Probably why the council did a deal with the local media to suppress the story.
And what if they can't tell you what you want to hear? How can the club guarantee long term cat 2 status when they have no control or indluence over what the higgs do? How can they tell us we have a long term future at cat 2 when the facility is being altered to no longer meet the criteria and, a decision which the club have no say in and without a suitable alternative venue.
Its obvious the people making the decisions at the higgs have no regard for the future of the ccfc academy. Ideally we'd build a new academy centre which the club have full control of and then these uncertainties wouldn't exist
Don't forget (and I got pulled up on this) that the Higgs charity trustees and the Higgs Centre Trustees aren't all the same people. Isn't Mutton a Centre trustee?
Nearly as bad as moving a club 95 miles, eh.
i was in stoneleigh boys, left in 66, boys house master then was joe short, he had a yorkshire accent & a pet phrase when about to give the cane was 'get away to my room lad'
Yet more Telegraph spin causing pant-sh*tting amongst Cov fans.
This isn't confirmed....a couple of bits taken from the article:
The new pool could be built on the site of the existing indoor pitch, which they use - See that word 'could'? Not will be, but could.
But the details of the pool plans are still being worked out and that no final decision about location has been made.
Happy Friday SBT'ers.
WM
The Higgs charity have said if CCFC won't to sign up long term, they will have to look at alternatives....
The Higgs Charity didn't have anything to do with the Alan Higgs Centre, that was the Alan Higgs Centre Trust. In any case the Coventry and Warwickshire Award Trust is now running the Alan Higgs Centre.
We asked the council at the time we broke the original story - they say nothing has been decided yet. However, it's our understanding the initially preferred location was at the current site of the indoor pitch. Nothing has been confirmed yet. CCFC have declined to comment so far.
Asked the all important question on the CT Facebook page and got this reply from Simon Gilbert:
Anything about the land next to it?Heard from a reliable source the swimming pool and wasps moving their academy/training facilities to the higgs in the near future is pretty much a done deal.

Where's that been said? It's nothing to do with higgs now is it apart from the name?Higgs doesn't want any association with CCFC anymore.
No, didn't say anything about the land, yes were trying to renew and get a long term deal.Anything about the land next to it?
Hasnt Anderson come out and said he is actively trying to renew it?
Higgs doesn't want any association with CCFC anymore.
That's right, it's run by the sports foundation not the higgs charity.Where's that been said? It's nothing to do with higgs now is it apart from the name?
Just need to wait for the contradictory statement. If the club is trying to get something long term sorted, but they sort it with wasps etc then it's clearly because the club wouldn't commit long term...No, didn't say anything about the land, yes were trying to renew and get a long term deal.

They know the general public will rarely use the swimming pool but the swimming association are keen to fund it so they can develop their elite swimmers.
From the conversation I had, this is very much part of the CCC sports strategy and would have happened regardless of whether our academy were on a long contract or not.
