"Adam Barton has been given permission to look for another club after slipping down the pecking order at Coventry City."

Not surprised by this at all.

Actually a little disappointed. The Barnsley game was his best by far, changed the game when he came on.
Good passer but if Pressley doesn't feel he need him then i back his decision.

Not surprised, I think he has something to offer but perhaps not quite the type of player Pressley wants.

I think Pressley still wants quite a small squad so everyone has to fit the profile.

No loss whatsoever, was there at Barnsley and really didn't see anything more than I have all along, nothing of major interest, right decision Elvis ... move on ! Great news.

He's had long enough to prove himself. Always thought he has the attributes to be a very good player, just didn't work out.

In my opinion a decent player but not the grade for promotion or play offs which should be our aim long term. hes tries but its not good enough and needs to move on for all concerned.

Disappointed, think he has it in him to be a really good player. If only he had more of an appetite to close and tackle.

I must admit I hoped for more when we signed Adam, but it hasn't worked out I guess, I wonder if Andy Thorn will try and poach him for Kidderminster?

Obviously a decent player, just not the type of player Pressley wants. Has the ability to change games but we need somebody who has a sweet foot, but also can get around the pitch.

Thought he did okay on Saturday but not been impressed before that. Hope we have a replacement though. Squad is thin enough as it is.

Billy Daniels and Leon Lobjoit, we also have some promising players coming through the U21's in that position.

I like him. Obviously got quality but seems scared to get stuck in. I did put that down to the injury, but surely he's over that now?

Good luck to him, I hope he finds a nice, midtable L1 team with a passing ethos where he'll do well.

£5 million target for Liverpool to being released by a mid table league one team in less than 3 years.

Shame really

Good luck adam

Had hoped for better things from him tbh. Never really been likely to be a regular starter, and up until Barnsley I don't think he could change a game.

Good luck Adam.

Yep, neither Robins, Carsley nor Pressley have played him regularly. Now 4th choice (whether people agree or not) behind Thomas, fleck and Daniels. I imagine he's on decent wages for a 4th choice player.

I wish him well.

He's crap, never been impressed with him. Has had about one good game in the last 18 months and that was Doncaster at home last season. I cut him some slack last season as it was his first but now it's time to get rid.

In the past we've kept crap players for far too long in the hope that they will come good.

Bit of a Freddie Eastwood "syndrome" here - great apparent potential BUT lacks application, commitment and 100% buy in to SP and HIS footballing philosophy.

Players must by now know that SP does not suffer fools gladly and will make difficult decisions as necessary to affirm his leadership whether unpopular or not.

Harsh but true. Just a dumb signing.

The Telegraph story says "we’re certainly not trying to force him out the door" and "There has never been any question about his ability or attitude".. this decision seems not to be so one sided as you suggest.

Perhaps he has been tapped up by the carpet baggers.

And didn't we pay for him?

Yes he was not a free transfer. Id imagine there is a player or two lined up and someone has to go off the payroll. He's a luxury player to say the least so has to go.

Yeah, he's no better than what we've got coming through over all. And I bet he's on a fair bit more than say Daniels.

The telegraph reports it from the view that Barton has asked to leave because he wasn't getting enough first team football

Having read the article it seems as though Pressley would be happy for him to stay and that Barton would be happy to stay if he were getting more games. He's certainly not being forced out.

Also I prefer him to Daniels. I just don't really get what daniels does. He's shifted from position to position since he broke through and doesn't seem to have any obvious strengths.
