Yes, awful news. I liked the way he spoke when he came in, and thought he was building a decent team (Keogh, King etc). Would of been interesting to see had he not been sacked, if he would of kept us up the following season. Instead we got Andy Thorn

Yeah in hindsight the shouldn’t have been sacked. Thorn was one of SISU’s worst decisions but they bowed to fan pressure.

And Thorn bowed to club pressure . ... he never wanted the job as manager.

Based on what he said. I don't see how taking a managerial post at a much lower level two years later, really supports your stance?

I think he wasn't fully convinced about the way the club was set up. Stop making it sound like I am making out Thorn was forced at gunpoint to be manager. Anyway what were the alternatives? The club appointed him whatever the alternatives.

Let's go with your suggested narrative, Thorn jumped at the chance. Is that the fault of Thorn or the management of the club and recruitment?

It's not a suggested narrative; it's what actually happened.

No other club would have employed him as manager and he jumped at the opportunity and clung on until he was fired. He was a symptom of a poorly run club lacking proper leadership that bowed to fan pressure to employ him.

We were initially rumoured to be looking at employing a certain manager at Barnsley, which just might have been the better choice.

Injuries to key players for his system was what did it for him, he built a side to play a certain way and (whether you liked it or not) it was working and getting consistent results here for the first time in a long time.

Ben Turner and Lee Carsley getting injured long term weakened the spine his team was built around, and we were shipping too many goals for his style to continue being effective.

Seemed to all fall apart after the unlucky Leeds 2-3 loss at home in November in front of a rare huge crowd, which I think was Ben Turner's last game that season, if my memory serves correctly. We were flying up to that point.

Only 54, and there's me thinking it's an old age disease, let's hope the medication can prolong his life.

The club began it's slide to the abyss that season in my opinion when Ray Ranson quit and was replaced with the 'super board' consisting of Orange Ken, Onye and the text-a-sub bloke, was all downhill from there

Football wise it all came to a head for him when we lost Ben Turner for the season

Ranson wasn't much better.
