Just been announced, Alan Rickman has died, aged 69.

What a shock and what a fabulous actor. Will be sadly missed.

Such a huge voice great diction, such style.
On that particular trait he could be considered on a par with Burton and Hopkins IMO.

My favourite role for him was the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Hilarious!

Someone told me he turned the part down a few times until he was told he could do whatever he wanted with the role and he then put in a film stealing performance that may have annoyed Kevin Costner. RIP I hope that beach is warm and your 20% is being paid in full.

Marvellous, almost peerless actor and whatever film I saw him in, he was captivating and stole the focus from anyone else.

I know Die Hard was a side step in his career, but I'll never forget that performance. RIP Mr Rickman.
