You suggestion is a bit daft to be honest.

This would be a new club formed out of the ashes of the old club, so a direct and tangible link to the original club and that is entirely different to a club that is already in existence and has existed independently for over 70 years.

Which other clubs have gone bust and reformed. Anyone know of a list?

Would love to hear of other clubs that went bust and reformed and how their fans felt and feel about their new club and if they still feel it is the same club.

Again, its about majorities and what people think. If enough decided sphinx was their club then why not? The new club would also be an entirely different club too.

What if two were formed. Which one would be ccfc?

You said it would be a "new club". Obviously not the same one.

If somebody has a cat and it dies and they go and get a new one to replace it, it isn't the same cat.

What kind of level do you want? You want the likes of Bristol City on there? How about the likes of Bradford PA? Or you wanting the relatively recent ones?

If City go bust and a new club is formed and called Coventry City AFC and plays in sky blue and are nicknamed the Sky Blues and the fans still sing the sky blue song and it has ex players such as Oggy and Dietmar Bruck and Busst and many, many others backing it, then yes, that IS Coventry City for me.

You may not feel the same, but I bet loads would.

It WOULD be Coventry City to me still.

Just would love to hear the opinions of their fans as to whether they consider the new club to still be the club they had always backed and supported.

Sounds like there were some positives from the meeting but I really don't understand why people are discussing a phoenix club while CCFC is still alive?

Bit like your relatives discussing your funeral arrangements when you been told you've got a serious illness but the doctors haven't actually said it's terminal.

Anyway, I think it would be madness for that to happen and God forbid if it ever did. Don't we have enough argument and infighting now without having TWO clubs to fight over in the future!!

No, sadly I've only got one club. Sphinx could get to the champions League final and play juventus at home and id have the same interest as Leicester being in it.

Stop picking hairs. The Newport County formed in 1912 went out of business in 1988 and reformed in 1989 as a CONTINUATION of the old club. Not sure of the full name but the word County was added with permission of the league don’t know which league as they are a Welsh club but I suspect it’s the EFL. If similar happened here most fans would see a “new” club in the same light and if they played in Sky Blue would be called the Sky Blues. You my friend can sit at home with your pipe and slippers and reminisce.

tbd I get it as a backstop. The nuance didn't come across if not at the meeting, but for the supporters trust not to have a contingency in place would be poor planning.

I support all things Coventry. It's my home town and is my parents home town. I cannot stand speedway, but was always rooting for the Bees when they got to any final of anything.

I always want Sphinx to win even though I have never had any interest in supporting them.

Could be American football, rugby league (which again I don't like), basketball (which again I don't like), darts, snooker, whatever. I always back any Coventry sporting club (but please don't mention anything with Wasps in the name. That doesn't count).

A Phoenix club wasn’t discussed as a solution it got mentioned more than discussed as a WHAT IF scenario should things go beyond the wire, see fuck all wrong in that.
It wasn’t 100% popular, the prospect wasn’t 100% agreed, it was just a worst case scenerio

starting a new club isn't a contingency plan in my eyes.
They are the Coventry city trust, starting a new club is nothing to do with CCFC as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not denying it to anyone, I can't stop people discussing it or (prematurely) planning for it but I don't get it and it's not for me. Just seems strange that a Sky blue trust meeting should be discussing a different club while the current one is alive and kicking.
I have a sneaking suspicion, (not aiming this at you), that some people are desperate for it to happen because they think there's a chance they'll get a seat on the board which will give them kudos and massage their ego, I may be wrong.

The day I get a seat on the board is the day hell freezes over

I'd fight against an alternative club while ours beats (Enfield shows the mess that can bring) but after the life support is switched off is a very different matter - I personally am uncomfortable with us being Otium, after all.

I also hate the thought if the old guard coming back and it being same old, same old. A new start should be just that with fresh faces as far as I'm concerned. But ultimately, just ad with McGinnity, Robinson, Ranson etc.. I can not appreciate the powerbrokers but ultimately have little choice but to follow.

Now what were those lottery numbers again?

Wasn't it discussed right at the start pretty much? Also inferring there might be a deal at the ricoh for one?

Same bloke who told everybody if the club goes into admin the fans can pick up the bits and also boycotts home games
