I am the archetypal binge drinker. Don't drink in the week and then just go for it at the weekend. My problem has always been the day after as when I wake up after a heavy one my first instinct is just to get back on it.
Problem is at the moment I'm having a few on a Wednesday, having a drink for the NHS Thursday, getting bang on it on a Friday, then waking up and getting at it on a Saturday.
I've always liked drinking at home. And happy to do it on my own.
It's a strange old thing alcohol and societies acceptance of it.

It’s so easy to just have a nice social drink every day. If it’s sunny... it’s beer time. Although currently dipping into a craft gin plucked from my gin alter.... which initially had the piss taken out of it but now sits proudly in the hallway at home. If I could find the remote control I’d fire up it’s flashing lights.... it’s pure cheese but I love it
Definitely drinking more at the moment. I’m on short time 6-12 thru the week. I’m usually sipping a beer by 1pm every day. Find myself peeking in the the morning, doing some mental arithmetic & then buying some on my way home. Hardly ever drank midweek prior to this, I am one of those types that drinks until it’s all gone.
Surely that means the sale of Alcohol from shops is up 32%
But the sale of Alcohol from pubs, clubs and restaurants is down 100%
I very much doubt that alcohol sales are up overall.
