What an absolute moron! "The most dangerous thing I've seen on a football field for many years"! Really?! A ball in the back of the head?! Like I said, idiot!

If it was one of his players who were just doing their job in clearing the ball, he wouldn't be so quick to react in such a pathetic and embarrassing way!

He's called for Williams to be "banned for a very very long time". What a ridiculous statement!

Prized c-unit imo!

It's slanderous, really is. No doubt the media will be too weak to pick up on the foolishness of it.

He gets away with it because he's a 'sir' and because everyone is scared of him. Great manager, very obnoxious and loathesome character.

Williams will no doubt get banned for a long time because the head of referees, Sir Alex, has said he should be!!

Good job Fergie wasn't in the stadium for Keane's assault on Haaland...

He could have killed Beckham when he kicked that boot at him. Which would be disappointing because the man's a dreamboat. Swoon

Thing is, from what I saw, the guy mis-kicked the ball and it just happened to hit Van Persie in the head.

Over the years, I've taken many footballs to my head. Some from point blank range at speed. Not a single one of them has killed me (maybe they killed a few brain cells, which might explain a few things).....

In all seriousness though, I think Fergie needs to remember some of the antics that United players have done over the years. The Rooney elbow to the Wigan player? Karate Cantona? Keane on Haaland? Any one of these could be considered more disgusting and vile than what happened today. But I guess when you're in the position Fergie is, you can get away with being a complete hypocrite. I think everybody knows by now that when United don't win, It's always the referee, or the grey shirts, or some excuse.

Well fergie is over reacting, probably out of frustration, however Williams clearly does it on purpose and it's ridiculous to think otherwise. He also hits it extremely hard and rvp is about a yard away, which theoretically could break his neck..obviously very unlikely but it could easily have knocked him out, which then could have lead to other complications.
The fact that so many of us have been hit point blank in the face with a ball before is irrelevant, as they are accidental, this was deliberate and I do think Williams should be banned.

Ferguson is an Idiot, big mouth and hope he has a crap Christmas.
I bet if the ball bounced off his head and back into the goal he would not say a word.

He is one of the main reasons I support two football teams. Coventry City and anyone who is playing Man Utd.

Are you joking? I think the fact 90% of utd fans are ridiculing him over this speaks volumes!

Obvious over-reaction from fergie but its pretty obvious williams did it on purpose.

Did anybody see MOTD2? Dublin said he would have kicked a ball at shearers head because he was a nuisance to play against and the presenter said "you would have probably missed" haha

From a player who broke his neck thats not good to hear unless he's saying it tongue in cheek of course.

Well I've actually said Fergie is over reacting and I believe he only said what he said to ensure it created a media storm, however this shouldn't detract from what was a dangerous incident and Williams should definitely be banned. Alan Smith broke his leg when blocking a shot from Riise, if you think it isn't physiologically possible then you're wrong because it is.
I honestly don't see much difference between kicking someone in the head and kicking a ball at someone's head from point blank range, as long as it is done deliberately. Additionally when you consider the power a premier league footballer can generate, it is even more dangerous. Excuse me for posting my opinion on a forum though kg82, you've posted over 3000 times in fairness so your opinion is evidently worth more than mine

If you know 90% of Man U fan's opinion you know a lot of people & have been very busy gathering their thoughts!

I watched it - IMO he knew exactly what he was doing i.e. Kicking the ball at VP...I think he was also pulling back on the power. Intent? Hit the ball at VP - not hit him where & at that angle, which in fairness could have had a nasty outcome (not too sure about actual death...although haemorrhage a possibility (?)...a cricket neck maybe?)
Fergie was just picking on anything else to discuss instead of the result/performance in greater detail.

I think it's the fact he says he's "lucky to be alive" as if he had been shot or something. He would have had to have been extremely unlucky to have died in the same sense that every time a player gets tackled they could potentially fall a certain way and die. Massively OTT statement from Fergie.

Did I say that? Don't get so defensive. Surely, as you obviously know its a forum, you know its a place for debate as well.

EDIT: I'd also add, having been kicked in the head and had a ball kicked at my head, that there is a big difference. For a start, the ball didn't break my nose and knock me out.

Tbf it could have potentially been dangerous, I doubt it was on purpose but the whistle had gone so there wasn't any need to kick it anywhere. It was a stupid reaction from Ferguson and the 'he could have died' comment was ridiculous

Okay fair enough, just annoys me when people say 'are you joking', as if your opinion is so ridiculous!

Well clearly it depends on how hard each is, however the fact this was evidently deliberate, with so much power from two yards makes it a dangerous incident and was just a more covert means of deliberately trying to hurt rvp. Thus I believe he should be banned.

If this had happened to a city player you lot would have been up in arms. It was an aggressive, idiotic act and had it been the other way around all hell would have broken loose

Some of us are a bit more objective than that. There's no question it was stupid. There's no question it would've hurt a little. To state it could've killed him = idiotic.

The whistle blew half a second before Williams cleared it so I don't know what the problem is personally. What should he have done? Left it so the great Persie could casually knock it in and gift Manure yet another tainted win. Yet more double standard hypocrisy from Taggart to deflect from another poor performance by his team.

Medically speaking saying it couldn't of is pretty stupid too. All I am saying is judging by the tears on here when we get a marginal offside decision against us, this would have caused forum melt down

Apparently hes at it again today because of the own goal that United have conceded. Last touch off Evans although Cisse stood in an offside position but as he didnt touch the ball, goal was awarded. Think this is in line with the rules is it not?

The ref made the right decision but I do think the rule should be changed. I don't think you have to touch the ball to be interfering with play.
