An apology to Kitching (3 Viewers)

I’ve stated my dislike for this lad & thought his days were numbered at City , but what a transformation he has made to our defence, since coming back in .
A tough cookie & may he continue this good form , with Lampard hopefully making him into a Fadz if possible .

I heard from a very good source that he was an arsehole in the changing room, with a toxic personality. Hopefully this has changed under the new management

He's doing ok at the minute for us apart from having bandy legs and letting the ball defelct of them ;)

I heard the worst about him however I was convinced that using it could get the best out of him. Now would give him the armband. First name on the team sheet arm behind Dovin of course.

Ha, that's funny. Both posting at the same time, saying the complete opposite of each other. 😂

This "trouble/disruptive" tag has been alluded to by quite a number of posters on here over a good period of time, so I am leaning to that being the truth.

He was. That's come from more than 1 or 2 people, it's pretty well known

Seemingly knuckled down and shown a better side to himself staying in the team, fair play to him
Nah sorry. Unless disruptive means he was pissed off at not playing, in which case fair play, he was right wasn't he?
Imagine knowing you're a decent CB and watching us piss away goals every week.

I still don't think he's brilliant defensively. He's a very flat footed defender who's vulnerable to players running in behind and doesn't anticipate danger all that well. Case in point thought he was slow to react to the shot yesterday. His aggression did help against what was a physical Watford side though.

His ability to thread a pass through the midfield and carry the ball forward from defence does offer something different as well.

Maybe he was just a prick who's grown up a bit.
McFadzean has admitted to being the same when he was younger but turned himself round.

I know they're friendly, perhaps he's mentored him?

I don't think your entire personality can change in the space of a few weeks. The logical conclusion is that he was being mismanaged.

.
Like I say, read McFadzeans interviews, he was the same.
It's very hard to draw definitive conclusions about whats gone on with him based on when he been picked/dropped.

Played by Robins, part of a great run, dropped by Robins.
Brought back for 1 game by Carr, dropped by Carr.
Not picked byLampard, picked by Lampard after enforced formation change and been superb.

Not difficult to imagine that at 25 he's thought to himself time to knuckle down.

Him and Thomas are our 2 best defenders .. said it for ages
Also the only 2 CBs we own that I would trust in a back 4. Credit where its due I think Binks and even our mate Joel are ok in a 5, but either in a 4 scares the shite out of me.

I’d be interested to see how we’re defining this alleged toxic behaviour?

for example, is bollocking a teammate in the changing room now defined as ‘toxic’?

He seems to genuinely care and is one of those gritty battlers that you want when going to war. He’s proven a lot of people wrong last few weeks.

I think he's been putting in some decent performances since November, (with a few duff ones thrown in).
But if/when we return to 4 at the back, would you trust him centrally in a 2 or at RB?

Don't think I would.

He's just OK for me , I'd always play thomas and kitching ahead of him in a back 4 ..but I'm not the gaffa

It was a sparky game yesterday and he showed a level head, which he didn't last season and got involved in too much needless stuff.

To me his ability has never been the issue, it has always been his temperament. Yesterday showed he can do it.

I think we'll return to the 4 eventually and recruit another CB in the summer and I can't see Lati getting in ahead of the new guy, Thomas and Kitching.
Not sure where that would leave him, or Binks.

Agreed mate, too many Chinese whispers around this place, if he was ‘toxic’ I doubt he’d even make the squad and be offloaded whatever the price received.
He’s a grafter as far as I’m concerned and works well with Thomas.

Maybe he’s just more suited to Lampard’s managerial style - seems like an arm over the shoulder kind of guy.

As much as I love Robins, he was known for being a bit of a grump, a straight talker, more in the mould of a no nonsense old style manager - doesn’t suit everyone, staff as well as players.

Take your point but feel that is a bit unfair on Robins who was second to none in terms of recognising the human side of management
