“You’re talking about senior professionals who are a bit set in their ways, not being disrespectful, and looking to make a change how they go about things – certainly day to day,” he said.
“My training sessions and philosophy are very intense so to try and implement that was the biggest challenge to get them to understand why and what you were doing in a different way.”
He revealed one of his own personal challenges was working with a different calibre of player to what he had been used to working with in the Premier League.
“You also soon realise that you aren’t working with the same level of talent that you’ve been lucky enough to work with previously and that was one of my big challenges,” he said.
“Could I implement my work onto a League Two club and try and change the way they play? They’ve got players that are suited to play football, certainly more so than the physical elements that the likes of Lincoln or Notts County are good at but it’s not the way Coventry play.”
