Andy Thorn talks utter bollox (1 Viewer)

I will never resort to kicking the ball upfield. Didn't work in the past and I'll do things right.

Two things andy. Last year at this time we were top 6, so saying it never worked is rubbish.

Secondly, it's called mixing it up! We don't need 90 mins of hoof football granted but the odd long ball to platt is harmless. It seems Thorn is too stubborn and that's gonna be a downfall. And another point about thorn, why didn't he play Gardner at the tip of the diamond. He's wasted on the left side.

I think you need to keep all options open. Play good football by all means, but if you are chasing the game with 10 mins left then by all means resort to the long ball or whatever it takes.

Love it. Now we are demanding the return of the long ball despite the fact that our best long ball strikwer has left the club (Marlon King) and Clive Platt is having a good season without the long ball....

Anything else we'd like AT to try for us? How about that old magic trick where the opposition disappears?

God he's trying everything, but we just aren't good enough.

Why all this anti Thornism at the moment? Are people forgetting that any manager would struggle with this squad? It's all down to SISU so get off the managers back. Not even Darren Ferguson would do a job here, because SISU would not pay the wages of any Man U loanees.

I understand that we'd go down with any other manager but a manager needs to get the best out of players and Thorn cannot do that.

Ok let's try Harrison, or Carsley or Rioch or Ken D or Leonard B or even get the fans to text instructions in. Bollocks a player should be earning his wages and should give 110% when he gets on the pitch. If I don't do my job to the required standard I get sacked. Why do players not have the same stipulations? Sack FE that would save a few grand a week and also make the other players think they had better start performing.

Have you not thought that he is getting the best out of the players at his disposal and they are just not good enough !!!!!!!
Look at the players we have lost over the summer and just remember back for the ones with short memories what our final position was last year !!!!!!!
I would probably say we are where we should be in terms of table position. Also remember most teams have strenghened their squads and we didn't except weaken ours !!!!!!

we hear on forums and radio that no manager could do better with this squad...

i dont actually believe that

Maybe they could. But do you think Sisu have the inclination or funds to try someone else and who ?
You can't make a statement like that without coming up with a solution or suggestion its like someone saying the world is round and then coming out with " I don't actually believe that "

Also AT's talk of how well we did in the second half on Saturday is a bit bewildering. Why doesn't he come out and say "I'm disappointed with the way we played and we'll work hard in training all week to put it right". I know it's good to look for positives, but that shouldn't extend to actually making things up!

time warp check Steve read what I said !!!!!!!
Yes they were good enough to get such a a lofty position just above relegation positions !!!!!
That was with at least three stronger players in the team than we currently have ( MK, Westwood, Gunnar ) need I say more !!!!!!!

Obviously the title of this thread is true, but what do you expect the guy to say each week !!!!!!!!
If he was to tell the truth he would be out of a job !!!!

Murphy, Christie, bigi, Thomas and platt didn't play in that run at the end of last season - that's half the side. There's 3 teenager who were 17 at the beginning of the season in the first season in the side. And that's before you consider te considerable quality of king and westwood at either end of the pitch.

No, some weeks they play well others they dont turn up, he doesn't have them perfforming consistently and he should pay the price for that.

Why? Hmmm let's look at the league table shall we. 2 wins all season. We played a out of sorts Brighton team and come off 2ndbest again. We have no plan B, we have no style of play and we have no chance of staying in this league while thorn is in charge. Simple as that.

But isn't that down to the lack of quality and having to play kids. Quality is more than just ability, it is also the ability to apply that quality of a regular and consistent basis.

Have you lot gone to the last 3 games? We HAVE been playing a mixture of the short game and also the more direct/long ball game for the last 3 games.

We have a significantly weaker side this year and its also made me realise how many poitns Westwood used to save us single-handedly.

AT has a very hard job but I believe this squad is better than 13 points in 19 games, our squad should be competing to stay up which we currently are not doing.

no it isnt

we only truly miss marlon king from last season, if a manager could find a different way to get our team attacking we would start winning

too many people giving thorn excuses and boy is he using them all

does thorn not realise that to play good football you need good players and we dont have many, 2 possibly 3 and im struggling. at the end of the day he is a clueless scout who must think all his christmases had come at once when he was given the job, while sisu are the main problem thorn certainly doesnt help himself with with his arrogance in terms of how he claims we only play football, i went to brighton and can honestly say that is me finished now until sisu leave our club

Too many people have unrealistic expectations. If you think we only miss King, you are very much deluded. We've had a squad that finished 18th stripped of 4 of its best players, as well as others, and not adequately replaced them. This is the 24th best squad in The Championship. Go figure.

That's a load of rubbish - we miss Gunnar, turner and Westwood, and the other squad players. We shouldn't have to be playing 3 teenagers week in week out.

King, Gunnar and turner scored 21 league goals between them, and how many points did westwood single handedly gain us?

It's also worth pointing out that John Sillett has given his backing to Thorn. Nice to know that a man whose opinion I respect massively sees things the same way as us "Thorn in" idiots!

Of course we have a chance of staying in this division. We are only two wins from safety. Thorn has made mistakes. Without those mistakes we would probably have more points. With another manager we could have easily been 6 points better off than now.

Whoever was in charge though it would be a struggle though. At the moment we are totally doomed.

I'm with nonleauge & stupot on this issue, the squad isn't good enough, it was cut down drastically from last year, we are going down.Get used to it.

People point out we lost Westwood & MK & Gunnar, but we also lost Doyle & Carsley from last year, they were the midfield pair for almost 1/2 the season, the 1/2 where we got over half our points from!
Other players to have gone & not been replaced are Turner, McIndoe and Jordon Clarke has yet to feature.
Freddy has given up & takes the money, he got 5 goals last season we sorely miss this, ROD is not good enough to replace him.
Clingan was never good enough to anchor the midfield, he is OK with free kicks & the occasional pass comes off, but he gives it away too.

I am now resigned to relegation, the thought we might just survive that surfaced after we beat Forest has gone.
