If the manager for arguments sake was Coleman, Dowie or Adams in charge. Alot more would be calling for there heads. Because its Andy Thorn who is a likeable fella people feel sorry for him.
Fans need to realise that Thorn is not answer and should stop using the sympathy vote for him. Many on here like myself ask what good has thorn actually don't while in charge and there only reply is the neat football which is ineffective. Can anyone tell me what good thorn has done this season? He hasn't really and that's the issue for me.
He has kept ACL in business with pie sales !!!!

My point and always ignored by the Thorn disciples. I quote Peter Reid. Always asked if same circumstances applied and he was in charge what would the response be. Never get an answer. It's because he would never wave if Block 15 chant his name I reckon.
Not on bout previous regimes I'm saying if they were in the same situation. Reason fans stick up for thorn is because he's a decent geezer and I like him for that but as a manager he's just not good enough.People would have got on Adams, Dowie or Coleman's backs a lot more as they had a lot more money to spend and the remit was different. We were never favourites for relegation under them like we were this season and we punched our weight in the transfer market. We now pack no punch whatsoever financially. I'd be surprised if we have any better than a midtable L1 outfit-I certainly look at Charlton, Preston, Huddersfield, Sheff Wed and Sheff U's squads with envy. The last side to be so financially cut adrift in this division was Sc-unithorpe-headed for the dropzone in L1 as we speak.

and this is the whole point. Why anyone doesn't want a change now defeats me. Thorn must practice black magic and hypnotise the crowd into thinking he is some kind of messiah. Coleman, boothroyd, dowie all had better records than this loser but they were never as defended as he is. It is mystifying.
it's 'cos they had money to spend and decent squads!!!!
So what would he do if he had money. Buy a few more Cody McDonalds?
Its all if's and buts. End of the day, thorn for whatever reason is not getting the best out of a bad bunch. That's the issue I have personally.
Well that's it. We know they are not a good bunch of players but it is still very clear that the manager is compounding our plight by adding his own mistakes to all the mistakes already in the pot
So because no-one plays 3-5-2 does that mean we can't?
1 goal a game is not good enough and do you watch us play? None of our midfielders push forward as it is. Bigi, Thomas rarely go into the final 3rd. Thorn should be telling them to go forward.
Yes i do watch them - the main problem is Clingan, Bigi and Thomas all want to play deep, last season we had gunnar making those forward runs.
No it doesn't mean we can't play it, it just means that we probably shouldn't play it, we need to get players forward. A lot teams also play 1 up front (433/451) so we would have 3 cb's marking 1 man, the wide man and fullback will be 2 v 1 against our wing backs pushing them back and we wouldn't have the extra man in midfield to help them out.
If our midfielders are not pushing forward then who's to blame for that? Thorn. He's the one who gives the order.
Granted many do play 1 up front but many don't either. As I say, we need to play to get the best out of a bad bunch and at the same time try and play against other teams weakness! At the moment were not doing either
The problem is we don't have enough fit box-to-box players, which is why Gardner has been brought in. It not Clingans, Bigi's or Thomas's game - they aren't box to box players. We have Deegan but he's stuggling with fitness and form after so long out.
There is no doubt it has contributed.
Well, we now have an attacking midfielder in Gardner. Let's see how that one pans out.
"Pretty sure" isn't a proven fact though, is it?
Anyone who has watched Gael in the first team will know that he lacks the decision making and composure at this level to score goals or play through-balls consistently. He doesn't look like an attacking midfielder, and from pre-season onwards it was clearly obvious that his natural inclination was to hang back. He wants to play where Sammy plays.
And I've watched Thomas too-I really don't think he's holding back his natural, rampaging midfielder goalscoring game thanks to instructions from the manager! He very rarely attacks space, he sits and plays passes. He also gets a nosebleed when he gets into shooting positions. He likes a tackle and is potentially a midfield-general, but he lacks mobility and movement and will probably never be the type of player to score 5+ a season.
If these two are a type of central midfielder it's more like an Essien/Carrick deep-lying one. Neither are Scholes-types, and to complain that the manager isn't getting the best out of two kids by playing them as attacking midfielders when they simply aren't sums up how desperate we've become. Indeed, the fact that our first choice central 2 had 2 starts under their belts between them before this season maybe hints at what our problem really is.
Gardner is a box to box midfielder, I can see why he played him LCM in the diamond, we need someone to make those deep late runs into the box, which he did and scored, and had another good header later on.
Those are the runs that Gunnar made at the end of last season which help add a bit more thrust in midfield.
you also made out that deegan and brigi were xavi.iniesta together, can you admit that sometimes you are wrong?
fact is if thorn took off murphy and put ruffles in goal you would say its because he has a poor squad to work with!
My opinion he is ideal for the position at the tip. He'll be wasted defending especially as we already have Bigi, Clingan and Thomas. We lack goals and we've only got this lad for a month we need him for two things. Goals and creativity not for his box to box skills. He looked knackered with 20 mins to go Saturday. Don’t want him to be using all his energy back tracking when we already have Bigi and Thomas looking after the back 4.
I used the words "Xavi and Iniesta", did I? Hmm, yeah, right. On that, you are plainly wrong. Maybe you'd like to admit that?
And your second "point" is clearly utter bollocks. If you're going to resort to such pointless and inaccurate posts, why bother at all?
You didn't call them Xavi and Iniesta...I don't think.:thinking about:
But I think you did over hype Deegan a bit who has been poor apart from 20 mins vs Blackpool, this is probably/could be a fitness issue though and he might come back as a great player when he is match fit.
I hope so to, we need every player playing to there max.Yeah, I rated him based on glimpses of potential. I am hoping it's the injuries that are the problem, as he hasn't looked even close to the player he did against Blackpool. I really hope he gets over the knocks and gets back to something like his best as he's now a pale shadow of what he's capable of. He looks like he's in trouble if he goes above jogging pace..
But that's the point - we shouldn't have 3 looking after the back 4, that should be clingans job. One of the reasons we have struggled with with our transition from midfield to attack - it's all down to the front 2 and the tip.
By having one of the cm's making forward runs, it creates movement, options, space for other players, late runs into the box which are difficult to defend against, a link between midfield and the attack and enables 3 or 4 players to get in the box on the end of something. And he will still be in the position to create
so we have established you cant rate players properly
so we cant really respect your opinion when you say no manager could do better with this squad.
no hard feelings fella
