It will waste a little bit of time too.

Imagine if that chance on the bar with the last kick had gone in? If he had made a change when the ball went out of play just before they wouldn't have had time to attack again.

I don't like to be negative, or get on AT or the player's backs but it really bugs me. At the Ricoh, EVERY opposition team makes changes and we leave it until the 87th minute or just don't bother and then wonder why we always lose or concede at the end?

I think he might be thinking about bonuses on contract such as appearance bonuses. Trying to reduce the amount of money given out in ages per game.

Thats why McIndoe stopped playing last season, because 1 more game and he had a big bonus.

As for subs i agree and disagree at the same time.
It is difficult to put someone on with say 10/15 minutes in a game so tight as he would be cold and take time to get into the game which could cost us dearly.
On the other hand subs when just minutes to go are clock wasters and disruptive to a home side looking for a late,late winner. So yes he should have thrown on anybody and got behind the ball at this late, late stage.

I agree that we need to make more subs to have some fresh legs on the pitch and see the game through but I also feel with the team essentially picking itself these days is there really anyone of the bench that is fully fit with the ability to change the game?

We don't have anyone on the pitch let alone on the bench capable of changing a game. Well not in a positive way anyhow

Whilst I accept that bringing players on towards the end of games CAN buy some time it also disrupts your own rhythem and can be counter productive. Refs. will sometimes however add on even more time if this is done, so it does not always result in reducing playing time.

With such a small squad, surely it's vital to keep players fresh through subs? Also, we may well need the likes of Thomas and Ruffles to step up if people are injured. I can only assume Eastwood and McPake weren't fully fit and was there to make up the numbers today

He didn't look like a manager with a lot to learn last season, when we had a few decent bloody footballers! And they'd underperformed until he took over. Does anyone really think a more experienced manager could do better under present circumstances? I think O'Neill or Clough would struggle to get points with our squad.

Today is an almost miracle result in my opinion. We are very lucky to have Andy Thorn, and if I was him I'd consider resigning whilst my reputation was still intact. He has every right to complain that the job is not the one he understood he was taking on (same budget as Aidy,"franchise player" Brody bollocks, etc).

I can see the argument for shoring up the backline in the last 5 minutes, but AT deserves credit for keeping both forwards on when CWR were banging on about it being time to bring Freddy on. If Baker had been capable of looking up he'd have seen Roy in acres of space soon after. And Roy had the shot that Lukas followed up for the equaliser. At least O'Donovan is quick, so should be more of a threat late on against tiring defenders. Would an unfit Freddy have contributed even that much? Bearing in mind he has never scored for us as sub.
