Cardiff seemingly one of the few caveman teams who leave players up for corners. So let's do a comparison:
Cov corner, Cardiff leave 2 players up, we keep 3 back in case of a clearance which left us with 6 players contesting their penalty area against 9 of theirs. Nearly every ball we crossed in, we lost the first contact.
Cardiff corner, we pack our own box leaving 9 of their players to contest our box against 11 of ours and we conceded a free header from it anyway.
Given that we can't counter attack like Liverpool from corners, we're making our own defensive job more difficult and eliminating the chance of counter attacking in the process anyway. Fewer men in the box makes your numerical advantage count more, allows your goalkeeper some space and also makes it easier to keep track of players anyway.
