I must admit, the more interviews i read with Cody Mac, the better i feel about the rest of the season. Not sure why but i really can't wait until Sat now. I think we can do Derby in front of the camera's and not just beacuse i think Cody is the new Rooney (before the doom mongers start!) i dont of course. IMO he will start from the bench, but i think the team may get a boost and our luck is about to change!! So please can we leave this as a positive thread and start looking up and not down!!

I think Cody will start myself.
They have had a break to work on some things and regroup as well, as a team, so lets hope for a win and a new start afresh.

He's had a couple of weeks to prepare so I hope he starts. Some other thread says Clingan is practising his free kicks too... so I'm expecting a hat-trick! :claping hands:

I'm just a little teeny bit excited it must be said. Just a tad positive about Saturday's result too. I have a good feeling about our new signing and God knows we've had little enough to feel good about recently. I just hope I haven't built my hopes up to have them dashed again.....:slap: BUT NO I WILL remain positive.

Smileycov, I am with you on this! I am feeling optimistic about Saturday - we may be catching Derby at a good time as they have already had their purple patch for the season, and we have got to score a home goal soon, so why not on Saturday? My only downer is that the late kick-off means I will probably miss the last ferry and have to drive round Poole harbour!

Strange isn't it - from not looking forward to the next match with our threadbare squad an atmosphere of expectation suddenly appears.

Although its early doors this Cody lad looks the business and with the AT "diamonds are forever" formation I think we will surprise a few sceptics on Saturday.

Great thread, I have always been a glass half full guy. This will be my first game of the season (as I have been on holiday and my enagement party for the first two) so I hope that I am the good omen for the Sky Blues and we get our first win. I agree with ICHAN, I would be very surprised if McDonald doesn't start.

We are lucky to have got Cody. He is not ready for the Prem, but his old side are now there. I do not think they would have sold him if they had not got promoted.

He will start the game. He is match fit, raring to go and we need goals. Been a little excited since he scored. Looks a natural. AT will base the team around him so he will get plenty of chances. Considering putting a decent size wager on him finishing the top scorer for the Championship. Just waiting on if we bring in quality attacking midfielders which I think we need more than anything.

I'm looking forward to seeing him, but I see Thorn is no different from any other manager we've had who infuriatingly suggests that someone "isn't ready" to play. They're professional footballers, not ballet dancers.

We can't afford to leave him on the sidelines "to bed in" as with the best will in the world Juke isn't capable of doing it on his own.

I think the problem with Cody is, he hasn't played at all yet has he?
So he may start and come off after 60-75 mins or something. I want him on straight away and give it a go, however AT is the man and he knows best, so if he is on the bench it will just crank up my excitment when he comes on. I said before, just the fact he is around means the team will be lifted.

Not expecting much from Cody, will need time to fit in. Can see this being a draw, probably a battling 0-0 but entertaining. Just so I don't get knocked for being negative, I am suggesting a point which is a definite positive

I would be surprised if he plays for the whole of the Derby game. The pace of the game will be faster than he was used to at Gillingham, and the marking tighter; I expect that he will get 45 mins. That begs the question of who will play alongside Juke for the other 45 mins. ROD?

I'm looking forward to football after the International break that never fails to bore the heck out of me.

Must be realistic we are all looking for something exciting to happen but lets not get carried away with high expectations so soon.

My hope is what ever happens Saturday a decent performance win lose or draw and the prospect of Cody giving real shape and bite to the team over the next few games matters most.......

I really don't think people should pinning their hopes on McDonals being the diffference, he hasn't really done anything that Feastwood and ROD haven't done in their careers.

I really hope he can be a good player for us and score a few goals to give us a fighting chance of staying in this league but I fear anyone expecting 20 goals from him will be dissapointed, if he was THAT good we wouldn't have got him.

Yes but we only got him because Newcastle had just scrapped the reserve side and were cutting fringe players. Keegan didn't really want to let him go, but then when you look at the Newcastle players above Forrest at the time they were a might better than Holt and Martin!

We got him because his old team are now a prem team. They have a much higher income now. They can afford higher wages. It would also be an even bigger jump from Gillingham on loan to the prem. He went there to play and gain experience. The choice was either send him on loan again and probably pay part of his wages or to sell him for about £400,000 to £500,000 with add ons and not have to pay any of his wages. Nearly every team below the prem also have a smaller squad now than last season. Less teams buying than selling. Would have been a gamble for any team, but one of the better gambles available. We know he can score with both feet, with his head and can go past players. He comes to us with confidence. Much better than bringing in a player looking for a last payday.
