It’s been a really good performance actually. We’ve look composed and created good opportunities, especially from set pieces. Sterling needs to do better with his chances.

He really pisses me off.

Did alright in the first half of the season but I'm not sure he's good for this England team. End product shocking today again.

Yeah, approach play is excellent, but our final execution had been poor. If it had we could have been at least 4 up by now.

Thats the worst England squad ive ever seen for a world cup. Not a single world class player amongst them.
I only hope that Southgate can get something special out of them in terms of tactics and teamwork.

I just can't call it under Gareth Southgate. I like the guy but as a manager seems lacking in presence and ability. But I will reserve judgement as he talks a good game. There is potential there for a really good starting 11. That was not tonight. We will need a ball winner in midfield and the balance tonight with Ali and Lingard in the same team reminds me of Gerrard and Lampard - you can't play them both.
A bit like a pre season friendly, no one is going to push hard or risk injury but we do seem too ridged, bogged down by tactics leaving little room for a bit of flair and individualism. I will be interested to see his line up in the next one.

Harry Kane he's world class isn't he.

I know let's start a thread on how many goals Harry Kane will score in the world cup.

No second thoughts, life's too short and it's not worth the grief.

Talk sport tonight said “let’s not get carried away”

I don’t see anyone who is. It’s about the lowest key build up to a World Cup finals I can remember

Building for the next World Cup in Qatar is what the FA will be wheeling out when we get kicked out in the round of 16.

Prefer Vardy to Sterling
Sterling can beat a man and create danger.
We'll need him to unlock the packed defences we'll encounter.
Vardy can't beat a man, never creates danger and is useless against a packed defence.

I expect mind-numbing tedium from the City but not from the best players the country can produce. But what can you expect from a manager who achieved nothing at club level so accepted a cushy role in the FA to line him up for the senior post. Phil Neville's management of the women's team has also quickly degenerated into the same non-descript beige style of football.

Qualifying for tournaments from mediocre groups shouldn't mask anything.

Then use them and manage them according to the opposition !
