i couldnt help but fall asleep, the anti climax of that game was simply too much.
the game was dire, yes i know it was the first game, but we were terrible, give leicester ther due they were by far the better team, even with 10 men.
yes there were some signs of future lights in Gael and Cyrus but theyre kids and its fine playing well for 1 game they will not keep that up for 46 games when the honeymoon period is over and the battle really gets going.
the main problem i had with today was the constant passing beween the back 4, oh dear it became embarrassing at times, way over the top, very pretty but way too many passes and not going forward. You dont get goals simply by proving you are a good passing team.
our defence did an ok job, the keeper i thought had a good first game for us.
the diamond shape everyone harps on about was non existent and i couldnt tell at times what formation we were playing.
The midfield were outplayed, the constant passing down the left was stopped by leicester in the second half and from then on we seemed weaker. the forwards were terrible at their job, in the wrong place at the right time, though Juke did put he effort in.
Macshffery for me was terrible again. I think as a player he is finished, he may have the odd good game in him but today was completely useless. \
clingan had a good game, as did Keough, Christie was good for a youngster and Gael needs more experience.
on the whole it was a poor game by both teams in my opinion that threatened to explode but never did.
The future? cant tell from 1 game, but if you fancy watching a lot of nil nils and 1 nil wins/losses you are at the right place. we are in for a proper borefest of lack of goals, plenty of passing and no going forward ! and why ?? because we do not have strikers. change that and we may stand a chance of staying, no goals we are going down, sorry to state the obvious
