i couldnt help but fall asleep, the anti climax of that game was simply too much.
the game was dire, yes i know it was the first game, but we were terrible, give leicester ther due they were by far the better team, even with 10 men.
yes there were some signs of future lights in Gael and Cyrus but theyre kids and its fine playing well for 1 game they will not keep that up for 46 games when the honeymoon period is over and the battle really gets going.
the main problem i had with today was the constant passing beween the back 4, oh dear it became embarrassing at times, way over the top, very pretty but way too many passes and not going forward. You dont get goals simply by proving you are a good passing team.
our defence did an ok job, the keeper i thought had a good first game for us.
the diamond shape everyone harps on about was non existent and i couldnt tell at times what formation we were playing.
The midfield were outplayed, the constant passing down the left was stopped by leicester in the second half and from then on we seemed weaker. the forwards were terrible at their job, in the wrong place at the right time, though Juke did put he effort in.
Macshffery for me was terrible again. I think as a player he is finished, he may have the odd good game in him but today was completely useless. \
clingan had a good game, as did Keough, Christie was good for a youngster and Gael needs more experience.
on the whole it was a poor game by both teams in my opinion that threatened to explode but never did.
The future? cant tell from 1 game, but if you fancy watching a lot of nil nils and 1 nil wins/losses you are at the right place. we are in for a proper borefest of lack of goals, plenty of passing and no going forward ! and why ?? because we do not have strikers. change that and we may stand a chance of staying, no goals we are going down, sorry to state the obvious
This guy can't be for real! We played some great passing stuff. For f*ck sake man we played a team which has cost around 20mil over the last 2 seasons to put together. Leicester looked like they'd come for a draw. They put 5 in midfield and sat ridiculously deep.
The rest of the division are nowhere near as tough to break down as that. We'll be fine this season having seen that. Only guy missing from last season worth caring about is King and we finished last season very strongly.
At first I was going to say you're a Leicester fan here on a wind up but you know a bit too much for that.
it doesnt bother me being told to fuck off lads, you just cant accept critisism of the team or the club, you think your superfans. i say it as i see it and if that bothers you its tough shit basically isnt it. being abusive isnt going to change my opinion that we were lacklustre, showed no skill in their half apart from the odd glimpse, took no shots on goal from any where nearer 30 yards out, lost the plot with the sending off when in reality we should have kept our cool, they looked tired, unfit and lacked speed. The continuous passing back and keeping the ball just infront of our own goal area may have you wetting you pants but for most of us it became seriously boring and monotonous after 20 minutes, so imagine how it was after 70. sorry you may have seen the game as a great one for us, i saw drivel. it can only get better. i will add to that .... when other teams realise we have only one way of playing, : keep the ball, play it around the back 4 ... into a midfielder and pray he passes through to a forward (which we do not have) or to the left flank, they will simply cover those areas as Leicester did for the second half and we have no game plan. it only leads to one conclusion: without goalscorers we are going to really struggle to beat any team in that league this year. its your first game of the season at home ... you set the stall out, well, we did and i for one was severely dissapointed with the whole set up, the team the way they played and the whole sisu not bringing in players thing. Andy Thorn though i will say has what it takes i am sure in all his inexperience the ability to have us down by xmas, go on start your little tantrum cos you dont like it... :claping hands:
not very democratic fellas. Analysing the game ONLY without making any comment on what the season brings I thought we were very poor. Pretty passing? Possibly. But knocking the ball around side to side and backwards means nowt. Look I'm sure we will improve but in isolation I thought today was shite. Honourable mentions for Cyrus Hill and Buggerme who show real promise.
Keeping a hold of the ball by passing it around at the back and between the defensive midfielders itself isn't an issue if on occasion there is an end product. Unfortunately we don't have the forward players and attacking midfielders to make it count.
I've seen Barcelona pass it around and not make any attacking progress, but they are keeping the ball and forcing the opposition into chasing the ball and wearing them down.
Going back to City, at least when we have the ball the opposition can't score. I'd rather we were knocking it from one defender to another when Leicester scored, but maybe some of you see it different.

I agree I think our problem today was our only attacking player to play well was Juke as imo Bell, Baker and Mcsheffery were all rubbish. We need more quality in these positions as these players today were not up to standard and they need to make a big improvement.
