If we were able to sign just one of the above on a permanent deal who would you go for and why ?

Murphy. More of a consistent threat and has assisted as many as he's scored. Plus I could watch him go round keepers all day.

armstrong more consistent i feel, i think murphy wouldnt take it well if had few bad games and fans got on his back i feel armstrong would learn from it and get on with it unlike murphy would be come disinterested and not push himself to win the fans back.

How can you possibly say that after Murphy's recent form on the back of the crowd getting at him?

Adam Armstrong. If we're talking permanent deals 12 league goals already for an 18 year old is incredible. Murphy is 20 and that might not seem a huge difference, but for Armstrong to be doing what he is doing at this stage of his career shows he is potentially something special. Although I think at this moment murphy may just edge Arma in ability however Armstrong looks as though he could one day be a premier league star worth a lot more money.

Who is the cheaper and what could we get for the difference? Want both but if we only got one we would still be ok.

Was going to add just that. What's genuinely impressed me is after a bad performance he's knuckled down. So many just give up and... he hasn't.

Im going by if we had to buy one of them for the long run we wont win every game even if we get promoted well go through a bad patch and i think Murphy wouldnt handle it aswell well as armstrong but how either would react if fans did get on their back, current form sure ya murphy playing great but this about who would you take full time im just thinking ahead not current form that all ha.

Armstrong definitely the more consistent and I am convinced he would easily get 20 goals for us this season. Not so sure with Murphy.

Murphy is a player that can make things happen, but then of course we will have Madison back soon and even though they are different types of players, they are both players that make things happen.

If Murphy was out, but replaced by Maddison I would not in the slightest bit be worried, but if Armstrong was out I would be more concerned for sure.

Murphy will get goals for sure but I just don't think he is a goal getter in the same way as Armstrong and I am a lot more confident with Armstrong with the ball at his feet in the penalty area than I am with Murphy.

Armstrong because I think he is better.

I think Armstrong is and will be better player but Murphy would be more effective in a poor side. For that reason I'd go for Murphy.

Close call but Armstrong. He's the holy grail; a natural goalscorer.

I would go Murphy definitely, goes past players either side and at pace, can score goals and make goals. Needs to get his final ball better but that will come. Will annoy at times with his laid back approach but even during his quieter games he created chances.

Dear god:facepalm:
In future read the op. BIT OF FUN!!

I'd go for Murphy, can make something happen for others as well as himself a little better than Armstrong IMO.

This is a more worthwhile discussion.

Murphy is the better footballer. He doesn't just rely on pace. He will when the chips are down be capable of creating and scoring goals.

He is the one to choose.

How much do you reckon he would cost and how much would you pay

Well, if we're talking theoretically, Armstrong - consistent threat, natural/instinctive finisher and would probably bag 15+ goals over the season even at Championship level. Murphy is on fire at the moment, however if his previous form is any yardstick, it's a 'peak' in form.

I'd go with the safer, more consistent option. Which isn't to say I wouldn't invest in both, given the resources.

Murphy's previous form had him leading our assist charts and 3rd or 4th in the division last time I checked. He was doing OK.

Like others have said before Murphy took loads of shit in the 1st half at Fleetwood came on 2nd half got more shit then started to play to shut them up.
AA hasn't had that hostility from the crowd yet so we don't know how he would react.
So for me at the moment it would be Murphy.

I'm not saying he is but has he scored in more games than Murphy? I don't know the answer but I suspect only in one more game.

10 I believe, which is top notch tbh, considering he has been on international duty for some of our games.
Would still have Murphy though.
