Aron Gunnarsson (2 Viewers)

Just watching the Belarus v Iceland U21's game and noticed that Gunnar is playing in the holding midfield role. I always thought that was his best position and the reason his performances over the past 2 seasons weren't as good, was because he had been moved further forward and out of his natural comfort zone.

Anyone agree?

Also, Johann Berg Gudmundsson is playing. We were very close to signing him under Chris Coleman. He looks a very useful left winger. Quick, tricky and puts a good ball in.
Shame we didn't bring him in!

Gunnar's playing well, hope he doesn't do too well though ;)

Thanks for the pointer-player cam on Aron in effect, then! Apparantly Iceland hammered Germany 4-1 in the qualifiers, that's why they aren't at the competition. Good stuff.

It was probably Thorn who spotted Gudmundsson for us, so I wouldn't worry-he'll find more! Sunny got a mention of the Five Live World Football Phone-in last night-that's the first City mention on that show I've heard in years! One of the "experts" on it is a Wimbledon fan and says Thorn was his chilhood hero, so we could get a few more mentions now :p

Just feel Gunnar emptys midfield to much to play the disiplined holding midfield role.

Was unlucky, but had to go. He's played really well actually, one of the best players on the pitch. Looked calm and composed and just kept playing nice, simple passes.
May be good for us that he got sent off actually, may be the end of his tournament. Least that way he won't be seen by anyone!

That's a great call, had no chance of getting to the ball. Good run by that player though. Never been a fan of giving a pen and sending a player off, its like a double punishment. Probably had to go though.
