Just posted by the Sky Blues matchday program twitter, so I think it's legit.

EDIT// It's for one season only.

I like it as it takes us back to the old fashioned one from the 60s/70s, but then I also liked that we included the Phoenix because it's what this City was about post war and that part of our identity is equally important.

Tbh I'm split on it, but I'm sure some will have much stronger views. I've not been consulted and don't know of anyone who has. These are the kind of things that imo should not be left to design houses, but decided by a fans poll (season ticket holders so that it's not hijacked). Fans should be included in all club decisions like this I think, particularly as we are the ones who will buy the shirt, but it's also a way of the club staying close to its people and costs nothing. Own goal I fear.

Will they be changing the stadium crests too or is this a one off I wonder?

I love this! I do adore our current crest, and from what i understand we'll be reverting to it after a season, and it'll still be on our away shirt anyway. But i really like this crest and if we're doing a retro shirt this year it makes sense to use a retro crest.

Also, on the pre-order page on ccfcshop.co.uk:

The 11/12 kit celebrates the heritage of CCFC, the badge in particular is a throw back to the 60's and the Jimmy Hill era and will be used on the kit for the 11/12 season only. The current Club crest is not changing and will be used throughout the 11/12 season as normal.

I agree with rob9872. This was an opportunity to engage the fans missed. What I take from it is - "we will please ourselves like it or lump it"

How long did we have the previous one for? Why change it ?

In the photo it is quite strong but put it with the other ones say like on the Sky football league show studio wall and it will disappear in the background. For me the current one stood out because of the colours. It is very 60's in feel but our history is more than that.

Plus wonder what it cost when we were so short of money..... hardly a priority

The quote on the club shop website suggests that it's going to be used ONLY on the home shirt. So our current crest will remain on the football league show wall, on the outside of the Ricoh and everywhere else (even on the away kit).

The shop website also says it'll be worn by the team for the last home game of this season (Reading)

I'm not convinced. I adore the current badge, it's eye catching. The one for this season looks....bland. I get the retro thing, I really do, but I wonder what everyone else my age and younger will think when they see it. It may grow on me for a one off thing, but currently I'm not sure at all.

What I do love about the kit is you can see that this year the City Link logo is in white, which matches with the kit a lot better.

I look forward to seeing the kit at the Reading game which ironically is my 19th Birthday, so maybe I'll get a pleasant birthday surprise! :)

I think it looks really nice as well, looks like it going to be placed in the center of the kit as well by the look of where the city link sponsor logo is, the material looks better then the usual shite they come up with, :claping hands:

The badge is OK.
I don't like the fact the kit is looking more and more to be just a plain sky blue one

I get the impression the kit will end up lookin like the one the baggies wore last season with no sponsor. Wud suprise me if it didn't have the sponsor on considering city link only started this season but as it seems likely to be a retro kit, I think it light end up that way!

Prefer our current badge, its the one we've had my whole life and its perfect for me, think we should stop looking at our past and start building a future, no offence oldies..

You can just see City Links logo bottom left corner.
It's ok as a kit the "Retro" thing & i'm sure is a lot cheaper to produce!!

I like it, and as it is one season only with retro kit should be good......However, i suddenly find myself aggreeng with you, we should be looking at our future not dwelling on the past.

We're a club with a rich heritage and we could do with something at the Ricoh to remind us of that! The Jimmy Hill statue should help with making it feel like home, but with everyone wearing oldschool style shirts maybe that'll contribute too!

I know I'm going to get slated but haven't we more concerns whether we are going to have a team next season never mind the bloody crest. I just think how much more that has added to the club debt. CCFC is loseing money hand over fist but manage to waste more on things like this. Absolute madness !!!!!!!!

John I'm sure when they started to plan the kit the theme was for it to be "retro" so they looked at the old kit's to get inspiration and once they chose the kit they wanted to base the design on they simply took the idea of the badge from it..

In fact, i think the retro strip could contribute POSITIVELY to our finances. I don't imagine the design of the badge cost very much at all, considering it's basically an existing design. It should be cheaper to produce than the current badge (we've heard before how the club wanted to change to a cheaper-to-make badge). And, most importantly, retro shirts so often end up really popular and sell far in excess of the standard season-to-season slight design variations. I bet this shirt sells better than any we've had in years!

I agree that we have bigger fish to fry, but the kit changes every season anyway, so it's not as if any huge amount of manpower or resources has been poured away unnecessarily. I bet that those in charge of building next season's team and working on our finances probably only "wasted" a matter of minutes when it came to this decision.

I'd rather we didn't keep it longer than a season, cos i really do like our current crest, think it's one of the nicest ones out there. But having said that, i love the idea of having a retro strip including a retro badge for a year, it should be a really nice kit.

Only a pale and plain sky blue shirt really cuts ice for me.
I like the look of it. I suspect it is younger fans who are attached to the current multicoloured badge and stripey shirts. As an older fan I prefer the classic 60s/70s look
