Though I can see great merit in Grenduffy's incarceration; I have to agree with him here. No slander of defamation had taken place given it's the author's expression of opinion. An opinion that may troubled, twisted and as wrong as a Frenchman's socks, but opinion nevertheless

Indeed. Though if I was Sir Alex Ferguson and saw someone scribe that he could not get a single point out of a squad of players than Andy Thorn then I may be paying a visit to my libel lawyer.....

Well defamation belongs in a civil court, not a criminal court, thus there would be no incarceration, instead monetary compensation. Additionally an author would never commit slander of defamation as it is written, and slander is spoken defamation. But yeah it's just a shit opinion.

Legal precedent says message boards count as slander actually. The judge said the give and take was more like a pub than a publication.

Not sure half the posters in here would get into a pub though so maybe the argument falls apart on SBT.

Speaking of Sir Alex, did you see the feature on the official MUFC website the other day when Brown joined? It reiterated Thorn's assertion that the deal went through as we had nurtured Norwood so well last year that we were trusted with a prized asset this. Reproduction on the official site gives it some credibility, don't you think?

McShefffery will be Captain, because he comes from Coventry and he is better than Henry.

McPake would have been an obvious candidate, but he left

Wood should be the captain, but he will be leaving

Can I nominate RoD for captain then?

I said Connor Thomas when the Cov Telegraph Twitter asked, its my opinion. It also made it onto the website (my comment is the @sawjer one) http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/co...y-city-back-to-the-good-times-92746-31463121/

Can't see past Zinedine Kilbane. Level headed, good positionally and don't see any evidence of being injury prone

Do you think he's any nearer to picking a captain?
Any obvious candidates from Today?

The Wdge had it today which I thought was a strange choice. I've not held a conversation with him but I expect his English is limited. I am sure he didn't have a clue what Attwell was telling him today when he was called over as captain when our 17 (still unsure who he was) was being warned about his challenges. He certainly didn't make any effort to have a word with his team mate! Saying that, the edge outs some meaty challenges in himself and gave away a pen which wasn't given but should have been imo

17 looked useful I thought: surely we can get a definitive answer to who he is?

It's the kind of managerial master stroke I have come to expect - make the none english speaking new boy captain. Thorn loves his Central Defender captains though - guess it's because he was a CB. I bet he makes a CB captain this season.

I would say the candidates are:

McSheffrey
Edje
Wood
Kilbane
Bruno (if he joins)

Bruno looked like a leader on the pitch yesterday. Thomas is too young, Kilbane won't be a regular starter. I think Wood will stay, if only because nobody else will take on his wages, but again I don't see him as first choice. McSheffrey is the obvious candidate but his form is so uneven and he plays in a role where most othe players are behind him - also he doesn't come across as an inspiring leader. Edje was fine yesterday but if his English is limited than I vote no to him too. So if Bruno joins and he starts regularly, give it to him as he looked the part yesterday.

If I had to guess who will get it i'd say McSheffrey, but i'd like Wood to get it.
