Reading Nigel Atkins assessment of his teams chances of winning on Saturday on Coventry Mad site is a prime example of a manager being tactically aware of how a team must play and adapt, before and during a game. Makes me wonder if our management staff has the same ability to think likewise ?

Completely agree, I really like Adkins' approach to management. He appears to be meticulous when it comes to preparation and has an understanding of the necessity to counter the manner in which the opposition plays. He doesn't bullshit about and offers a simple analysis of the task in hand. The most impressive thing about his style is nothing is taken for granted and his team are top of the league on merit alone and are doing very well.
I hope by 5:45pm on Saturday it's Thorn who has come across as the master tactician but unfortunately it's more likely going to be Adkins taking the praise.
I can't believe people would read so much into a simple statement by a manager.
This is like when, before the Leicester game, people were saying we were definitely going to win as it was apparently clear from Sven's comments that he knew absolutely nothing about us and hadn't done any preparation or analysis of us.
Adkins is just churning out a few cliches, and if you think that because AT hasn't come out in the press and told everyone how he thinks Southampton are going to play then that must mean he isn't tactically aware or hasn't thought about how best to beat them, then you are seriously deluded and naive.
