Now don't get me wrong, the performances So far this year have been abject to say the least (i know weve barely played any games) however i feel this has felt differently this year to last. Last year i feel a lot of the frustration was vented against SISU... And the poor performances by the players were almost overlooked, and served as a fuel to the fire of those against SISU. I feel this year a lot more anger has been directed at the players, from the boos, and the "your'e not fit to wear the shirt" chants at the end of the crewe game. Whilst yes we played shit, the fact most fans have given up feeling 'sorry for ourselves' as regard the misconception thorn and the players were performing to the best of their capabilities last season, that a much more negative, and harder to recover atmosphere is now present.

Totally agree with this. The atmosphere and general mood is one of despair and depression! I totally understand why but how do we get out of it?

Yes the level of tolerance for poor quality football is now wafer thin. We have a good wage budget for league 1 and so I expect not just results but higher quality play than the majority of opponents can provide and that our higher than most wage budget dictates. I haven't seen it other than the odd ten minutes here and there. When you've spent the last 12 years out of the top flight without one single decent season then what else do you expect but absolutely no tolerance. I've personally had enough and its got to change. I'm not convinced about the team at all, the tactics, formations, effort levels, you name it and so far its not good. Four games no wins. Yeovil, Bury and Crewe amongst the mighty, highly paid teams we've been up against so far.

It would be thats difficult in the rut we are in... Even early on in games, if one mistake is made by a player... Which is bound to happen, the crowd become restless and boos may creep in... This causes the players to become frustrated and edgy and this is a vicious cycle.... On the whole we have fantastic fans... And look at tottenham fans at the weekend, supporters of a relatively succesful team, they still turned against the players its sometimes natural... But this mentality should have to change. Maybe for a bit of luck to be on our side to get us a first league win may lift this burden, and leave a better feeling around the place.

And i guess thats it... Expectations... And too right, we should not be in this league, but the reality is these "lesser known" teams do have some good players and it takes most teams dropping from the championship several years to return. Preston had an abysmal yr last season here... And charlton leeds , southampton, sheff utd and wednesdayall took more than one year to return when their fans were probably dismissing the opposition just as much.., added to the fact we are now arguably signing lesser quality players as they would have been snapped up by championship clubs if they were better... Then we perhaps should be more patient?... Frustrating and as annoying as it is

As stated we have one of the highest budgets and potentially best squad in the league, this was absolutely not the case last year and performances are rightly judged against these factors.

If 1500 cov fans are willing to spend their time and money going to Crewe its more than reasonable to expect a positive performance even if not a positive result.

Yesterday was an absolute shambles and quite frankly after years of shit we deserve better. if any players are feeling sorry for themselves after yesterdays reaction they need to get over it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

It's the frustration of not just poor results but poor performances. Take the Bury game for example. We saw a great first half and there seemed to be an air of positivity for once and fair play to the players as they seemed to be finally playing as a team and working hard. There was no booing at half time and no real moaning from the fans that i could hear. Then the second half started with nothing changing, the fans were still positive and the Bury team hadn't been replaced by Brazil and yet the usual Coventry appeared and without much effort from Bury, they drew level and saw out the game with City looking mostly uninterested. Although i can't stand the harsh verbal abuse (swearing and the like) that the fans are giving out, i can totally understand the booing and the dispair. We all know the likes of Baker and McDonald can play great so why only for 20 minutes of a game if that?? I think it has now got to a point where it is down to the players to really come out and give it their all because if they actually play well for 90 minutes (not saying it is easy but it is they job and supposed passion) and we win a few back-to-back games then the abuse will hopefully go and everyone can feed off the positivity

So calling players w@nkers and all other insults is supposed to make players play better? It won't put them off will it?

So they are paid well. This will stop it from getting to them will it? I have been known to make comments in the heat of the moment, but I would never boo or insult players for my team. How can anyone think this sort of thing can help? We all need to get together. Not help our opponents by all the infighting that is happening. Or should we all make it so our players dread getting the ball incase they make a mistake? Stop them from taking a shot incase they miss?

Tbf the you're not fit to wear the shirt chants should be a kick up the back sides of these players. We've had a summer of watching Olympians paid nothing try their hardest to make people proud, yet we watch over paid footballers think they're superstars. They turned up against Crewe after the Birmingham game thinking they'd walk over Crewe. They were a disgrace, and people moan about fans booing players!! A lot of people spend a lot of money on this club, you wouldn't expect to turn up at the theater for people to fluff lines after spending loads.

I understand what you are saying. I don't agree with the outcome of what you say though. If you keep telling someone they are sh!te how can you expect someone to give a sh!te or even play without a worry of the response if they make a mistake?

I don't make as many games as most. I pay my money though. Nearly every game I go to could buy me a season ticket. I can only get to between 10 and 15 a season. Does that mean I am wrong on what I believe affects our players? Why have our players struggled so much over the years? Is it anything to do with the fans?

I agree entirely with what you say but I think in the main our supporters are pretty tolerant and some of the booing and abuse dished out (I do neither in the main) is pretty tame. If a lot of other clubs around the country had been on the kind of run of form over the last decade that we'd been on I think the level of abuse directed at players, management and board would be a whole lot worse. Have you seen the abuse Newcastle fans give out when things aren't going well. Its not got them relegated into league 1 though. Its very easy to support a team that win more than they lose but thats from a Sky Blue perspective. How long before those supposedly fantastic Liverpool supporters turn on Rodgers and the team. Go to any ground in the country stick them in a crap run of form and listen to how supportive the fans are when its 60 minutes in they are losing and playing shit. The problem with our fans is we are too accepting of this rubbish we have to watch.

I agree with what you are saying.
But I don't and haven't booed for years. But yesterday I was so disgruntled by what I had seen it felt it was right to boo these players wearing the Sky Blue shirt that so many proud players had worn. The effort I had seen was so poor. Last year the young lot put everything into it. Sisu were to blame last year but now, the blame has to be put on to the players. We have players that have played in higher divisions that now thing they are above this league. Yesterday shown that they are not.

Really hard to explain to anyone who wasn't there, i didn't boo one performance last year but yesterday was unacceptable.

I think on balance as far as football fans go cov fans are a reasonable bunch, God knows we've had to be in the last 10 to 15 years but sometimes enough is enough.

Fair play to kilbane for apologising, his reaction shows he cares and i think its reasonable to draw a line under the incident and move on.

We seem to be stuck in a horrible cycle. Lack of income and poor financial management has ruined us to the point where everyone seems to be pointing the finger at each other. There are so many fingers in the CCFC / ACL pie all desperately trying to make money out of it that there simply isn't enough to go round. The off the pitch problems have slowly influenced on the pitch, particularly since the sales of Fox and Dann.

I think what we saw on Saturday was the frustration boil over. I don't think it was necessarily losing, it was the manner in which it happened. I also don't think it was people turning up thinking we'd walk over them. We just didn't expect to see us get walked over ourselves. Part of sport is losing and as Cov fans, we've certainly seen our fair share. A lack of commitment, heart and battle is something that we shouldn't stand for as fans. I would have happily clapped them off the pitch if we'd lost 5-0 and gave it our all. We didn't though and the booing was justified in my opinion. Players need the boot up the arse at times.

What wasn't acceptable in my opinion, was some of the abuse. I've never heard some of the things that were said directed at the opposition, let alone out own team. I'm not sat here claiming to be a saint, all of us are guilty of the occasional "What the fuck was that?!" but jessssus, screaming repeatedly at your own players the likes of 'cu**s' and 'w@nkers'?! Not a great example we're setting, especially to the young fans who are unlucky enough to be dragged along to watch this club!

As for the bloke abusing the ball boy, wow. I know we need every fan we can get at the moment, but he should be given a years ban at least. Never been so disgusted by a fellow supporter. Heat of the moment or not, he should take a good look at himself in the mirror. Disgrace.

Just to add to the ball boy incident. I hope someone at the club has heard about it and offered some sort of apology on behalf of the fans who were equally disgusted as I was. A signed shirt might not go amiss, even if he does support Crewe. Poor kid must've been shitting himself

That's another thing, I think we are going way too over the top with this. What the 'fan' did was wrong but every team that has come to the Ricoh their fans abuse our ball boys! Sheff Utd in particular!!

In fact I asked (dm) the police on twitter if they did anything about this incidence and still yet no reply!

I was closer to the centre of the stand, but where I was sat he looked like he grabbed the lad and got right in his face. Completely unacceptable and using the justification of 'well other fans do it to our ballboys' is just as wrong.

The Crewe defender told the ball boy to leave the ball when it went out of play. So he did. The Crewe defender went and got the ball to waste time. The moron Cov fan ran down the stairs to the ball boy and started shouting at him. Making him cry! Then started chanting wanker at him!

Chanting wanker at a 10year old boy is about as low as it gets. Someone should of videoed it and play it back to him this morning, see who feels the anker now.
