We are in dire need of new songs, "in our Coventry homes" and the sky blue song get incredibly boring after 20 mins of a match, been watching videos of Eastern Europeans fans and their songs, and it's simple, even our useless t**t of a drummer would fit in! Loud vocals, a drum and simply singing the name of the club, imagine away games 1500 fans rammed into a tiny away stand all bouncing and singing, that would give the team something to be inspired by and a group of fans they'd want to get results for! this one is probably in my favourites, the first 90 seconds

Would be amazing, our fans would enjoy it more as well. It's just what to sing when doing it & we need a good bunch to start so others will follow..

Noticed over this season block 15 have started singing different/foreign type songs. Each to their own but can't beat all the City fans singing the Sky Blue Song in a packed away end.

We support coventry, there's always something worse to think about, hence why I think about things that are going to make me enjoy a day out watching football and creating an atmosphere and having a few pints is certainly up there

I totally agree. We need all the seats filled from the front to create a packed in, intimidating atmosphere; and we need drums.

It's not difficult to get an atmosphere going when fans are packed together and led by drummers. The lyrics to songs could be put on here, they spread fast enough in the stadium.

The fact our drummer only seems to think you can get one sound out of a drum doesn't help, personally I'd prefer to see them only open one stand at a time, if we sell out one stand, start selling seats in another stand, at least then everyone's crowded in rather than needles in haystacks all round the stadium. That way we should always have noise as people are crammed right in

What a cringeworthy idea, basically following the same trend of singing "I just can't get enough" or "We love you" over and over again whilst waving a scarf round your head like everyother team's mong supporters.

You want the reasons why foriegn teams have a better atmosphere? Because they have cheap tickets, terracing, aren't handed three year banning orders for swearing etc.. Basically their football culture is more akin to ours in the 70s and 80s, whilst over here the clubs and leagues now have more in common with American football and Baseball teams in the way they treat fans and "market" the game.

Can only see it being a matter of time before a group of 14 year olds try forming a "Sky Blue Ultra" group with a cool logo and some exciting "new" European chants which sounds as though they're all having a stroke.

You will notice that most of the eastern european fans who do all the singing are aged between 16-30, this is an age group we have lost over the last 15 years or so.
I would say 70% of our home crowds are aged 45+, 15% between 5-9, so that doesn't leave a great deal of the age group required to generate that kind of atmosphere.
The way things have gone over the last few years i fear the group i'm talking about (16-30) have been lost for good.

I love our songs. In our Coventry Homes and the Sky Blue Song in particular, because they're unique to us (although I have a scouse mate who claims that the former was theirs, twat.) When there are thousands of Cov fans blasting them out away from home there's no prouder feeling!

Agreed. Our performance over the past 12 years has meant we've lost a generation of fans. Those who are still interested must find The Ricoh a pain in the arse to get to. The club must do more to get this age group back, although I'm not holding my breath.

And as predicted out come the boring section of Coventry fans, who think if you're under the age of 20 you can't support the team properly. Note that teams with ultras, always fill their stands, and a,ways have a booming atmosphere, I'm not suggesting ultras, or just can't get enough, I'm putting forward a suggestion for potential new chants and songs, which we s

Being 20 myself, me and only a few of my mates support coventry, most are united fans, but the ones who support cov, appreciate the days out at the pub then a good chant and a laugh at the games, shame a good 70% of the older fans seem to massively frown on this and would rather sit down and just moan and clap

It is a liverpool song, thru' & thru. Cov only nicked it cos of the 1.5 cathedrals......Liverpool actually has 2.....and an accent that is exceedingly rare.

I'm amazed there are still City fans that think its a coventry song.
I shudder every time I hear it as I hate LFC so much.
It was ultra cringeworthy when sung at Anfield & Goodison back in the day.....& it was very embarrasing hearing it at Tranmere too.

Have you ever been to an away game in the premier league?? Those days were magic.
I'm 37 now, every one calms down a bit.
Doesn't mean in less passionate.
In my opinion we will never get that in the Ricoh because its a plastic soulless place....but away from home, I love the atmosphere and the day out

To answer your question though to create a better atmosphere what we need is to close off parts of the ground and bunch the home support together. Currently being dotted all over the place isn't helping anything although Stewards probably prefer it that way..

It is a pity that a lot of the younger lads that go have never been crammed into a terrace like the "good ole days" , it didn't need a drum or constant banging of the corrugated surrounds to create atmosphere.
That said i like the way some of the younger lads are trying to generate an atmosphere and i for one would not knock any of them for it.
What we need is cheap tickets for the 16-21 age group as they are the ones who we are losing the most.
I am sure Norwich done a season ticket for that age group a few years back for about £140 and it seems most are still going, lets not forget they played in front of 10-11k on a regular basis.
Having said that if Munich can have £105 ST why can't we, you would certainly more than double the crowd which naturally provides better atmosphere.

Agreed. It changed as we went up. Should change as we go down.

Atmosphere will improve with closing off some of the stadium. Personally I think any chant would be better than the embarrassing shit we sing away from home ("interbred" and "I want to go home")

Boring? think you'll find mate I stand, sing and passionately support the club as much as anyone else but I draw the line at acting like I can't count past 10.
