"We've done our homework on Kevin and we're really pleased to bring him to the club because I know that several other teams were keen to get him, including a Premier League side," manager Andy Thorn
told the club's official website.

Because only someone stupid or deranged would believe premier league clubs wanted him unless they were of the Blue Square variety.

Tell him to stop talking about people we've actually signed? Jesus! He gets slated when he talks about having signings lined up but not actually signed, being told to only speak once the deal is done, and now he's got someone signed up and training with the squad, but he's not allowed to talk him up?

But it's documented that Big Sam was looking at him when he was at Blackburn, so why is it so impossible that a lower Premiership club would look at him now? He wants game time - 25 years old and he could count the number of first team appearances on Helen Keller's hand. He chose first team football over yet more reserve team games.

Check the average premier league salary against what we will be paying him. Do you really think that?

Welcome to sky blue talk the land where people think someone will turn down £20,000 a week (very conservative estimate) for £5,000 a week as he will play a few games.

Who gives a shit if it is true or not. People would criticise him whatever he says. He could sign Lionel Messi and some on here would find a reason to moan. He can't win really.

Are you joking? The average wage on a premier league team is treble that.

Just to clarify this further I once did a finance agreement for a premier league footballer in 2001 who had just signed for a team and in 2001 he was earning £26,000 per week.

Arsenal's top players are paid 90k-100k, there is no way that teams like Norwich, Stoke and Fulham pay a player that would be in their reserves 20k

Yeah. I agree. What he should have said to the press was:

"Yeah, so we've bought this guy who has played 3 professional football games and he is 25. Blackburn had an eye on him a few seasons back but that's about it. We aren't really sure how good he is but he has a French name so we must be on to a winner here."

I MEAN FOR FUCK SAKE LADS...

I'm not sure anyone has said we are paying more. And just because a prem team were looking at him doesn't mean anyone else actually made an offer.

I never said we were paying more, just that 20k is a ridiculous amount for a Premier League reserve player at a lower team in the division. We'll have it your way shall we? Criticising a manager for hyping a player he just signed. How dare he!

More outrageous is the fact that he thinks we'd be paying him 5k a week. Half that I would have thought.

Yeah you're right. What he should do is retire at 35 having played a half-dozen first team games. That'll be something to tell the grandkids about. Perhaps he isn't motivated solely by money. Just because that's the be all and end all for some of you doesn't make you right.

Whatever it's twice as much as Stoke. He'd be getting tax credits if he signed for them.

Was it us or Stoke?
He'd probably get about 5k at Stoke.

Well it never says he chose us over a premier club, just that they were interested. There is a difference between scouting a player and watching him play and offering a player a contract, it is likely that he wouldn't have been offered a contract at a premier club even if they were initially interested

There is a huge difference between signing for a Premiership club and being "looked at" by them.

They offered him a deal and he turned it down, did he? Is that what Thorn said? No! You are living in a fantasy land, making up scenarios that didn't happen purely for the sake of your argument.

How could he turn down to play for one of the most exciting and innovative managers of his generation?! Thorn is the greatest manager since Sillet, we are lucky to have him.

Thorn is always right, we will win the league, the following year we will win the championship, then we will be the best in Europe, I for one get rid of thorn now.
