Anyone know how many we averaged for a home game this season (in the league) and how this compares to previous years?

For the purpose of comparison I guess we may need to know when the club began counting all tickets sold as "attended" as opposed to the actual number through the gates each game; otherwise there will be season where non-attending ST-holders are counted in the figures and those where they're not, so clearly not an exact comparison.

Cheers.

Thanks - let's hope the Ricoh deal can be sorted and we can exceed this season again next year. To get a 25% uplift on tickets sold from last season to this is impressive, and whilst we probably can't replicate this % increase (last season we were starting from a lower base, we've had bigger L1 away followings at the Ricoh this season which won't change much next term, we also would have benefited from the unique "promotion enthusiasm" which may have ebbed by August 2019) I do hope that the club aim to put another 2.5k or so onto the average gate. If we can average 15k for home games next season that'd be progress for our coffers and more importantly for the long-term development of the fanbase.

When I’ve looked at this roughly 30% increase/decrease is standard with promotion/relegation.

We're not going to average 15,000 next season. A small increase maybe but even when the going was good this time around the gates didn't shoot up.

Agreed. Depending on arena situation etc we might creep up to 13,000. What the club lacks is the ability to attract a reasonable walk up.crowd for the average home game.

Yeah, i think years of achieving little has gradually eroded support and it would take a long time to build it up.

That drop from league 1 to the Championship is a fair bit, I’d wonder if they’d come back?

I think increasing the cost on a Match day has a detrimental effect on the walk up crowds and wished they just stuck to the prices in advance.

All it needs is cleverer marketing. Single advertised price with a discount to buy early rather than a premium to pay late.

The average gate isn't far off where it was prior to the Ricoh move. Discounting the final season at Highfield Rd as there was an uplift in gates towards the end of the season, the average was around 14k.

The Ricoh effect only really lasted a season, gates started to decline the next season and every one since then. In 2009 we had a decent squad much lauded on here yet year on year gates declined.

The conclusion is that 12k average is as good as you'd expect at this point.

All this highlights what a complete disaster moving away to a small ground would mean.

I think we got 2-3 seasons from the Ricoh effect before gates started to fall away notably. It's interesting to see the significant variation in our gates over the years. Even if you discount Northampton, that last few seasons represent probably the worst period in our history as far as attendances are concerned:
