My biggest niggle, and has been for some time, has to be the away team playing in unrecognised kit colours instead of traditional home colours.

Take for instance tonights Marseille v Arsenal game with Arsenal playing in yellow tops and blue shorts instead of RED despite no colour clash with the home team whatsoever.

I understand its a money grabbing ploy but I would have expected a bit more resistance when it was first introduced - don't you think ???

It just doesn't seem right !!!

It's actually a valid point. It is done for commercial reasons no doubt but we have 'lost' that traditional appeal of seeing the opposition team in their familiar colours we have all come to love or hate as they race out the tunnel.

Having said that though I do love the retro 'Brazil' style kit we have for away games and frankly I'd keep it at home too as I have never thought much of the insipid 'Sky Blue' colour tbh. I always remember looking at the opposition colours and thinking how much more powerful or bigger they looked compared to the dull Sky Blue!

An Aussie mate once asked me how I could admit to supporting a team that play in "powder blue". He's kinda right. I must admit, I really don't like our sky blue status.

I trust he isn't fron NSW then as their rugby and cricket team play in sky blue.

Only an Aussie or an American could say such a stupid thing.

What sort of person chooses their team based on the shirt colour?

I for one am pround of our sky blue shirts and its historical links with our city.

I love the new Man City away strip....white with the one sky blue and one dark blue vertical line just off centre on the shirt. Traditional colours but avoids colour clashes.
They used to be known as second strips rather than away kits.....over used these days. All for commercialism.
I think a few years back Man United had something like six in one season....three main ones home away and second away if the first colour clashed with opposition, then had kits for Europe....ridiculous.
I have always felt clubs should register a kit for 2years home and away. Then fans would only have one kit to buy each year.

I suppose you could argue that you're playing away, so you wear your away kit, simple as that.

I often find a lot of away kits are nicer than home kits!

people were moaning last season having spent good money on the yellow away kit and us only wearing it once in half the season, works both ways I guess!

If people bought an away kit and never saw it used they'd be equally annoyed. A Norwich or Wolves can't have too many games where they have to wear alternate colours for instance.

As much as I love the sky blue colour and would never want that changed we either have a plain kit or vertical stripes???? Why not mix it up a bit as long as it has sky blue within the design. It could be hoops like QPR or quarters like Wycombe or a half and half, just mix it up a bit instead of the same old.

Marseille played all in white. Arsenal's home kit includes white shorts and socks, plus the top has white on it. Clearly would have been a clash. There are other examples where changing kits are not necessary but tis was not one of them.

Nobody needs more than 2 kits. In extreme circumstances the home team would wear their away kit to avoid a clash.
