100 year Covenant set up in 1953 being wilfully ignored by the current landowner, Kicked the club out and now started ripping up the pitch and listing fixtures and fittings on ebay before any planning permission has been granted.
I drive passed the Stadium every couple of weeks. I even said to my partner last week I'm amazed this hasn't been turned in to houses. Now I know the full story behind it. Hopefully the council actually support the club.
Being Basingstoke born and bred I have always had 2 teams. Coventry (family connection) and Basingstoke. To see both of my teams homeless and playing outside their boundaries is terrible. The site for the new stadium was refused by the council because it is common land and the local dog walkers opposed it. It has been downhill since then with 2 relegations in 3 years. The club is on its knees and could well get relegated again this season. Had many a good day at The Camrose and maybe this is a chance to keep our home rather than have it demolished for yet more housing. Watch this space. PUSB.
