Bayern Munich - refugee crisis (1 Viewer)

Fair play to Bayern Munich

- donating a million euros, laying on food, setting up soccer schools for refugees etc.

At a time when a sizeable percentage of europeans are getting twitchy, xenophobic, nimbyish etc about the possible influx of refugees, it's a great move by a major football club to take such a positive action that may help sway people's attitudes towards compassion- rather than a somewhat darker attitude. For me, a welcome thumbs up :claping hands:

What a refreshing post, I agree entirely. Britain is starting to show it's true xenophobic and insular attitudes to the rest of the world.

It's brilliant what they are doing, a true example of how a club is integrated into the community and not just ticking boxes on This front. Well done bayern

....and another point (which probably says more about me & my cynical view of large corporations than anything else) is that whilst £750K, a bit of grub & a kick about is a welcome contribution, the global PR they will reap from such a (relatively) small gesture is worth far more to them than the outlay....

Still......Well done Bayern Munich.

Man City have spent £109M on 2 players. That would have gone a long way to help the estimated 9M refugees from Syria. I'm sure Man City could spare a few quid.

Even more sick when you think that Man City's owners are from one of the wealthiest families and nationals in the world who happen to be muslim.

They probably see Assad as too liberal the Syrian people as not orthodox enough
In fact the Saudi hierarchy probably have more In common with IS.

It shouldn't be up to individuals.
It needs to be government led and supported locally.
Each community should welcome a family and the government should finance them for one year to get them on their feet.

I notice that Google are now offering to "match your donation" until a total of 10m euro is reached......

Nice gesture......but surely a better gesture would be to just donate 10m up front right now....and then how about another 10m next week....and every week until Xmas

....just think of it as a fraction of the corporation tax bill that you've wriggled out of for so many years...
