Bayern have dominated so far, Barca have had 1 half chance but Bayern aren't giving them any space to play at all.

Bayern added Mario Gotze from Dortmund today also for £31.5 million. Are we seeing a power shift towards Germany from the La Liga?

Personally I reckon Madrid will win the competition.

I wouldn't be disappointed if that was the case. Their league makes a mockery of the "best league in the world". Cheap ticket prices, travel included, standing terraces and quality atmospheres. Think they've had over six or seven teams win their league over the past decade or so as well, although I could be wrong with that.

Looks like three teams have won it in the last decade.

Barcelona ought to win, but I'd be amazed if they can pull the tie back. They were saying how Barcelona pulling back the 2-0 deficit against Milan was a first, so this'd be freak show. Guardiola must have been chuckling away to himself though.

Don't know about that but Barcelona were seriously found out last night. I think we are all now discovering that Barcelona's style of Spanish football cannot be imported to the Champions League. They cannot defend set pieces for their life and without Pique, the average height of the Barca defenders is well under six foot. They didn't have a prayer against Muller and Gomez and struggled badly with the pace of Robben. It's almost as though they need two teams, one for La Liga and one for the Champions league. Top all this off with a jaded Messi and they ended up getting what they deserved, nowt! Let's not take anything away from Bayern, they were up from it from the first whistle and looked a different class to Barca, should be an interesting second leg but I still reckon Bayern will make the final.

Yeah heard on the commentary last night that the average ticket price is £20 and that is to watch world class players! They also have the highest average attendances and the clubs are making profit.

FA take note.

i wouldn't agree that Barca's style cannot be transferred into the CL, clearly their past success in the competition reflects this. Munich were a complete powerhouse last night, playing fast attacking football but more imprtantly closing down barca at every avenue. Barca rely on xavi, inesta to pick up those balls in the midfield and distribute, they didnt have time last night due to awesome workrate from Munich. I think 0-4 was slightly flattering (not much) and some debatable goals particualr Robbens but barca were not at the races either so two extremes in this game. Barca wont make that mistake at the Camp nou but the question is whether Munich shut up shop and absorb the pressure or go and get an early goal. This game is over but Barca can play for pride.

Bit of a good week for German football isn't it? All those young technical players they've got too, the national team really ought to be winning some honours sooner than later.

Lets forget their recent past success shall we? What you've outlined isn't down to style of play, it's down to composition of squad, look at Spainish national team, two world-class CBs and are the complete package, accept RB. Barca have been weak at CB since Puyol is past it and injured easily, I hope they sign a CB in the mould of Hummels, Kompany, someone to sure it up, Mascarano/Song/Busquets at CB? No. I'd like to see Munisea and Barta do well but neither are world class.

Also, their manager is still suffering from cancer and I think PSG was his first game back (?) after his treatment, so there's that, I personally think it'll be better for him and Barca if he steps down I think, the stress of being a manager will certainly be no good for a cancer patient.

Barca need to change personnel slightly, they're being quite static in the market and not addressing key weak areas, but did sign Alba for LB, hopefully a CB, or 2, a healthy manager and I think they'll be unstoppable.

7-0 on aggregate-you'd have to say they're hot favourites for the final.

They blew them off the park again last night, such as strong and motivated team who can score goals from anywhere. I think not having a top striker is actually helping them as there is no one focal point for their attack as they have midfielders and strikers who can finish. Will be interesting how Pep change this style of play (or not)
