Bell ... give him a break. (1 Viewer)

It's amazes me that a guy who hasn't had a chance yet this season should be subjected to so much flack! Why? I have no idea what Bell's attitude is now that Robins has taken over. Do you?! Or do we continue to need a whipping boy now that things are on the up. I'd suggest the manager can't wait for him to be fit...give him a chance to prove himself before any decisions are made if they have to be. In the meantime condeming the guy isn't exactly doing a great deal for his confidence. Isn't it our role to get behind our players, to get behind Coventry City?! Can you imagine what would happen if those 'fans' with a collective negative attitude were given control of our club?!! Personally I shall continue to support any player who wears a Coventry City shirt, and leave the the rest to Robins and his crew!

Give him a break?

Arm, leg or his nose?

Nowt to do with this season. Everything to do with 3 and half years of underperformance and failure to live up to the 'very good player' tag put on him by a succession of managers.

So like I say...do you have an insight into his attitude under Robins? Or are you just writing him off assuming 'more of the same'. When he finally gets out there, and he will, I'll be as interested as anyone to see what we get. But till then......

Bells problem is to do with the fact he signed a very lengthy contract without really justifying it.

That is no fault of his but still is an albatross round his neck.

He has a fresh start under Robins, just like he did under Thorn and Boothroyd. Until he proves otherwise fans will of course assume more of the same because that is all they have witnessed of him in nearly 4 years at the club.

Certainly not given a good account of himself yet.

He is not a bad footballer just has a history of never getting on the field enough to establish decent opinion on him. Now if we were UTD and had the money and the time to carry players i would agree with the original post but as we dont have this, he is a liability due to his history and wages.

I would hope his wages to be used better than keeping the treatment table busy.....

He is a liability, whichever way you look at it. Even if you think he is an excellent footballer, you'd still have to say he is a liability because he is injured so often and usually for long periods of time.

He will have been here 4 years in January. He has played 87 games. He doesn't even average half a season per year. We simply cannot carry players like that.

Even putting his quality or lack of it aside, he's a liability from an availability point of view and we need to get shot.

I dont think he's been slagged off that much this season, we have just sort of forgotten about him
We have a team who at last are starting to take shape and looking at his history, can we afford to gamble putting Bell out there regularly and undoing the progress made.
By all means lets give him a whirl but only when we are dead mathmatical certs for promotion this season :guitar2:

I don't think saying he'll undo all the progress made so far by playing is fair.

I agree that he has been a liability over the past 3 and abit years but saying he'll never again make an impact is making an assumption you really can't make.

Yes he's had numerous chances to show his talent but injuries haven't been kind to him.

But i doubt Robins will throw him in without first seeing his effort on the training field.

And saying that he shouldn't be given a chance until we're dead certs for promotion will just fuel peoples belief that he's not good enough.

Robin's will most probably give him a few sub appearances and judge from there.

We all know there are players in this team that have under performed but they are being given just as much a chance of turning themselves around as everyone else so Bell deserves that same chance!

I for one can't wait to see him playing again and I hope (for his sake) that he takes it by the bit and hits the ground running!

Things will go so much better for him if he does!

I'll be amazed if we see Bell kick a ball in anger for City again,If they can get him off the wage bill with a £200k. fee then thats what I'd expect.

You people can't criticize someone for being injured!

Nobody chooses to be injured. I've been injured for 18months now and f*cking LOVE playing football. It's not a reason to give someone stick.

I remember the majority of City fans slagging Turner off before he came good; although nobody will admit it.

Who's criticising him for being injured? :thinking about:

No-one from what I can see. People are just saying anyone who suffers so many injuries is a liability to the club, as was Tim Sherwood, as was David McFookedmekneeup.

The guy is a liability to the club because he is injured. No-one is criticsing him for being injured.

The guy deserves the same chance everyone else does. He's scheduled to be fit in the coming weeks and might never get injured again - who knows!

Enough of this stupid "we must get shot of him" rubbish. He's a good player who's been unlucky.

He's not unlucky, he's just not very good.

Well 87 appearances and the number of good ones that you could count up without the need of more than two hands says an awful lot.

Manager after manager keeps telling us what ability he's got yet we hardly ever see it.

One good performance every 5 to 6 games at most.
