If you guys enjoy Mr Inbetween. Dont miss the original film it was based on called The Magician. Same lead actor too.
Seen that advertised on fox , I’ll give it a watchyou and others list loads of programmes I like suggesting similar taste but then throw Ozarks in which I honestly thought got worse and worse and the last series was awful (though I stuck with it because sometimes you just have to!).
Mr. Inbetween is another relatively unknown gem from Australia, I thought it was superb.
Gomorrah
Still doing that the traditional way, week by week. I preferred the first series!Just finished watching the BBC comedy Ghosts. Very enjoyable. Just the sort of silly comedy needed right now.
I absolutely love Gomorrah, right up there with The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad etc.Gomorrah
Gomorrah is quality. If you don't mind subtitles, checkout Das BootI absolutely love Gomorrah, right up there with The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad etc.
Romanzo Criminale is another good Italian series.
Yes. I think it is brilliant. One season wobbles a little, but overall, it is a great watch.Has anyone watched the handmaids tale? Is it worth a watch?
Yeah, we watched Money Heist dubbed into English and at times it was dreadfulTop 3 of all time would be:
Breaking bad
The sopranos
and probably less obvious - Money Heist.
For money heist, make sure you put it as original Spanish audio and then English subtitles. I think when I first tried to watch it it defaulted to the dubbed English and it was cringey and I turned it off after ten minutes. With the original a idiot though...wow. I’ve never been so on edge for a TV show, was fantastic.
Notable mentions for
Boardwalk empire
Peaky Blinders
Peep Show
Band of Brothers
Parks and Recreation
The Marvelous Miss Maisel
Cheers Otis, i'll give it a goYes. I think it is brilliant. One season wobbles a little, but overall, it is a great watch.
When did that start mate?Anyone watched the new series of Taskmaster ?
I had no idea Her Maj was a film director!Just finished watching The Queen's Gambit on Netflix. Highly recommended. Made me want to take up chess (I know the moves etc. but none of the standard strategies such a Sicilian defence etc.).
Few recommendations from recent viewing. All Netflix.
Mindhunter - series about the FBI developing criminal profiling. Two agents modelled on real people interview serial killers in prison. Fantastic show and has led me on to the real Agent’s many books on the subject.
The trial of the Chicago 7 - film based on a true story about the anti-Vietnam war movement and the US Govt’s bent prosecution over a demo in Chicago. Sacha Baron Cohen is excellent in a “real“ acting role.
His House - IF you must watch horror (the wife makes us occasionally - although it tends to bore me) then this film was decent for the genre. Two refugees flee war torn Africa and get put in a Council property in UK but have brought an evil spirit with them.
I also concur with Handmade’s Tale... amazing show. Planning to read the books soon.
I'm not sure if Chicago 7 had a cinema release but if it did I think SBC could be in for an Oscar nomination. His performance was superb
Which books did you read related to mindhunter?
It had limited release in US I think mate. Was to be a full release but Covid scuppered that so Netflix bought the rights.
I’m currently reading The Killer Across the Table. John Douglas is the Agent/Author. But from that I can see he has written a few books so will be checking them out after.
The one mentioned here is his newest, released after Mindhunter I believe. The actual show is based on his book of the same name.
The Holden character was based on Robert Ressler. I read Resslers book, I think the title was he who fights monsters.
The incident where Holden ends up alone in the room with Keller is in his Resslers book, it actually happened to him.
But is the second episode of the first series better than the first episode of the second series?Accidentally stumbled across the first episode of the second series last night. Looks even better than the first series!
