Yeah ditto.I try and think behind the headline before clicking onto CET headlines, knowing it's likely to be a rehashed version of an existing story.
This time, though 'Striker move a step closer' proclaims the CET headline. OK, I thought, there's been no talk of a striker....let's see....................Gustavo Hamer
Got me again - they really are gash
Good shout! Can’t be doing anymore with yesterday’s chip paper click bait cobblers.Yeah I think we should start a CET thread and anytime an article is released, post it here without the bullshit adverts cutting everything up
Hi Tom, as someone who also works in the sports media landscape, enjoy your day off and don't worry about it.Hello chaps,
(I really am putting myself up for criticism here being from CET but I’m really not prying, I’ve read this forum since I was about 13 and used to contribute a lot back in the Mowbray and Elvis days, before I was offered a job there.)
Although that article wasn’t me (I’m off until tomorrow) it really was just a simple mistake. We have a skeleton staff this week as one of us is on furlough and the other (me) has to have a day off at some point.
Yesterday we had a writer from another club step in and in a timed article for this morning he for some reason put that Hamer was a DM in his copy but a ST in the headline. I’ve just logged on and changed it. As evil as people think we are, this one really was just a simple mistake - and god I make enough of them myself.
So I’ll be the one to say that I am sorry.
I hope you’re all doing good during this weird time.
Nick can you do a new thread with a Click Bait Title as a wind up?Probably a random copy and paster with no interest in CCFC so didn't even check where he played.
Good of you to come on here Tom.Hello chaps,

Is it worth taking the job even. If you actually wanted to be a serious journalist and your CV was just years of copy and pasting nonsense from other sites you're not going to get anywhere.I feel sorry for the journos who work in local news at the moment. The message coming from the higher ups is to constantly churn out the content that's going to get easy clicks as quickly as possible. It's very much a 'throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks strategy'. I doubt most of the lads working for publications like the Telegraph want to be writing articles about where Enobakhare is moving to or rehashing rumours from Twitter about players being sold but at the end of the days it's a job (and not a particularly well paying one I'd imagine) and they're just doing whatever tasks management assign them.

Hi Tom, good to see you engage. But for your own safety and sanity, don’t read this forum when it comes to the CT.
Haha! Everyone is allowed to hate what they want to hate. My job allows me to write about Coventry City every day. If I would have gone into another line of work I would probably still be doing that on a blog or on a podcast in my spare time so I feel very lucky that it is my nine to five.
I think one big frustration for all of us in local sports media over the last few years is that we can spend a good few hours working on something creative that those who do read it really enjoy but when our numbers return at the end of the day our biggest stories are fan reactions and transfer links.
That tells us that readers enjoy fan reactions and transfer links more than what some would call “good journalism”.
I think people do also like the transfer stories. Especially lately, it’s bloody exciting to have a €1.5m Brazilian linked with us and I have done my best to ensure what we do report is as we understand it and not as ‘FootballInsider’ understands it.
I personally think the way forward is video and podcasts and I am keen to do those more and more (we have a promotion special coming out soon that is essentially a 5,000 word online timeline with videos and pictures that I hope fans will all enjoy).
I have only been with the company since the start of the season, I worked for the club prior to that, and for as long as I have been here all we have tried to do is to create free content that we hope you’ll enjoy.
I think sometimes we do get things wrong, that’s life, and we try to correct them.
I am going to carry on with my day off now! Keep bashing me when I deserve it, it keeps me on my toes and stops me getting lazy.
P.s. I’m not a Sunderland fan, I’ve seen someone on here keep saying that I am. I’m a Coventry fan. PUSB.
I used to have it bookmarked and visit several times a day, now I actively avoid the site. It's second hand information from elsewhere online, no effort at any effective reporting, terrible editing/proof reading and the site itself does its best to destroy your browser.
It also doesn't help that they've done their best in assisting an attempt to destroy the club in an effort to get at the owners and in doing so are now incapable of criticising the main reason we're homeless as they rely on the advertising income. A once proud institution that needs closing down.
Credit to you for posting on here Tom. In my opinion the Telegraph receive some harsh critism although to be fair some of it is founded. That morning article these days is a bit jumbled up. It seems there is a remit to try and summarise everything in one headline often which is confusing. I used to log in every morning and look forward to the Telegraph article but it seems there has been a sway to more of a summary of yesterday's news.Hello chaps,

I think I’m right in saying papers usually have someone write the headlines specifically with no input from the article author to get the best click through. I’ve seen lots of national journos complain the headline doesn’t reflect their article.
@Tom Leach being serious for a minute, the radio silence around the indemnity clause Wasps asked for is very frustrating as is the difference in tone between non answers from Wasps that seem to not report something they won’t talk about and non answers from Sisu that say “they’re not talking”.
An update article giving background to the claims by the club, what “the Telegraph understands”, some input from someone in EU law about the ability to drop a complaint, and comment from the club/Wasps even if it’s just printing “they refused to talk” would go a long way. Probably wouldn’t even need a click bait headline
I can attest from personal experience how difficult it is to get anything out of Nick Eastwood or Wasps that's actually worth reporting.
Is it worth taking the job even. If you actually wanted to be a serious journalist and your CV was just years of copy and pasting nonsense from other sites you're not going to get anywhere.
I think that's then put in an article.
"Wasps chief ignores offer of discussion about CCFC"
That type thing.
The fact they still haven't reported about the wasps director in the brothel is telling, they would have a field day if it was fisher.
5 ways he snorted drugs
5 different fetishes the established provides
readers react
what we learnt about the brothel
5 celebs who have been to Coventry who have dabbled in an establishment
Agree with this. If they are asked questions and refuse to comment then report that, it builds a picture.I think that's then put in an article.

Anything negative about Wasps is completely ignored.
Where’s the flag?? Come on lad you’re slipping“5 reasons why we are sorry”
