I wasn't upset or in a 'Frenzy'. I literally just pointed out I'd listened to the interview and it was a stumble not a huge gotcha moment that it has been portrayed in the press. as others have said the mistake was almost instantly corrected.

I really don't understand you get to where you have from my comment. But yeah lets leave it really cant be arsed

I don’t think it’s that. No one on this forum is bothered about our opinions being challenged otherwise we wouldn’t be on here where every post is pushed back on!

It’s more not wanting to open up a social media app to catch up on whatever it is you use Twitter for and being greeted with bots, porn, racism and more.

Saw an interesting stat the other day about how with the exodus to Bluesky etc, the political affiliations of (American) Twitter users now more closely reflect the political affiliations of American society as a whole.

I really like Twitter, often rely on it for work etc and would have welcomed a site that more accurately reflects diverse viewpoints. But the For You tab is consistently feeding me outright racism, violence and other explicit stuff, as well as a fire hose of Musk’s generally dire opinions (which routinely make up at least two thirds of the first ten posts I see when I log in). It’s barely useable now.

Torch, you've said many times you don't entertain people with different political opinions.

If the exodus has nothing to do with politics, why is it nearly all left wing people that seem to be going over to Bluesky?

I'm in full agreement that Twitter is a shithole, I just don't see how this is helpful and I'm also not gullible enough to believe the desire for a left wing echo chamber is not a big part of the motives for many to move over.

I'm happy to see counter arguments to my political opinion. I'm happy with discussion.

However, I'm not happy with seeing abuse, porn bots, constant, adverts, racism, Russian bots, MAGA nutters on my timeline. I'm sick of it. I left. I'm glad I did.

I don't care about people leaving twitter, it's shite. I will however point out when it's blindly obvious people are using excuses to leave when it is really a politically motivated action.

Yeah I’ve been recommended all kinds of stuff like that, including one post that straight up said black people were less intelligent than other races etc.

If my only alternative is an echo chamber then I’m taking the echo chamber every time I’m afraid.

I get stuff like this and worse. Numerous posts freely throwing the n word around and in the derogatory fashion. I’m at a loss as to why if the algorithm was genuine (we know it isn’t) because I’ve blocked numerous hate accounts and told Twitter “I do not like this post”. Alas, it gets worse by the week. And I have reported posts literally targeting someone in a thread calling them n or p and had an email to say it doesn’t break the rules. There’s debate but the place is just a cesspit of hate. Not to mention the porn, overt sexism etc. Have signed up to blue sky but there isn’t much to follow and the “for you” section is either boring or too far the other way. I think I’ll give it all a miss and stick to here and a handful of opposing news sites.

I don't use social media because I know this is what will eventually happen. I expect BlueSky will eventually end up somewhat similar.

But that you say they can't 'hack' twitter/X. So you think having tons of fake accounts spreading disinformation, unsolicited porn and violence and endless hate and spite is acceptable? It's a cesspit and is worthy of being got rid of for those reasons alone regardless of political views. I'd have thought the ultra-conservative, old-fashioned values MAGA lot would be sickened at the amount of porn.

The irony that people are calling BlueSky an echo chamber when that is exactly what Twitter is becoming (by the owners design).
