I haven't posted on here a lot in the past few weeks (a lot of university work if anyone is interested) but...
1 win in 16 is quite frankly not good enough. Now as i said i haven't posted on here for awhile so i do not know what the general consensus is but looking at that FACT alone its quite surprising that he hasn't got the chop sooner!
I saw on Sky Sports earlier the Coventry City Fans Spokeman said that it was awful that Aidy did not get enough time to build a squad. Yes funds may not have been available to him during Januray (but for a club losing money is that surprising!?) Yet, some funds were definatly available in the summer! Did he spend well? In my opinion it is a resounding no. Roy O'Donovan and Stephen O'Halloran (to name but two) have either barely featured for us or are quite frankly not good enough for this level of football.
Have Coventry played attractive football under Boothroyd? No! Have Coventry won 'ugly' under Boothroyd? Well in the past 4 months the answer is obviously no!
So therefore is a manager who doesnt seem to be able to win a game playing either attractive or ugly football and someone who makes mistakes in signing players a good person for the job? In my opinion the answer is no.
Any Coventry fan that blames the current ownership of Coventry City should take a good look at the current climate of British football, and see how difficult it is to run a financially successfull football club. They should also realise that this once 'big' club has stagnated in the second tier of English football for over 10 years now.
You leave it very open at the end saying we've stagnated... why do you think this is? Maybe because in the ten years since relegation we've had 10 managers, you don't need a rocket scientist to work out that averaging a manager a season is not the way to run a club, create stability and try to move up the league. This second half of the season has been a disaster but now we're going to bring in another manager and he is going to want to put his style into the squad. Surely this means he's going to want more funds, so that means this decision is also a bad one economically.
Theres no such thing as free. Signing on fees, agent bonus, wages etc etc. Thankfully at least we wont have to be paying anybodys goal scoring bonus.
For all these games O'Donovan is either sat on the bench all game or not even in the squad, thats a few thousand pounds the club are just throwing away. Complete waste.
