This is a great post. It was such a bad season.
Best referee of the season yesterday. He quickly recognised Bournemouth' tactics of niggly fouls are blatant diving. Solanke threw himself to the floor about 3 times in the first half. Eventually lead to some good yellow card decisions.
The one on Hyam where the Bournemouth fans lost their heads was brilliant. It was a clear foul on him rather than the other way round those on the South Coast thought.
Red card was spot on.
Their keeper should have been booked. Tried to waste time all second half. Maybe if he didn't, he wouldn't be still their lying down on the floor after Kane chipped him.
Yeah set his stall out with the early freekicks for fouls on O'Hare.
He travelled and was did not feel well in the night at the hotel and did not feel fitted enough to play they take 3 goalkeepers and take 1 additional player
Sunning come back
What did he say then ?That's not what Mark Robins said on CWR after the game.
Robins said Rose fell ill on Friday night, so didn't travel.

Agree about the referee had them well sussed much to the annoyance of Scott Parker another Chris Hughton if ever there was one.Best referee of the season yesterday. Reading all of this back it sounds like the boo boys have started on Dabo.Yet the boo boys still target Sheaf who has been excellent.
Both Sheaf and Walker come in for unrelenting and unwarranted abuse. Dabo is one of my favourite players but he was poor for most of Saturday.Reading all of this back it sounds like the boo boys have started on Dabo.

It seems like keepers especially get away with time-wasting so much.Best referee of the season yesterday. He quickly recognised Bournemouth' tactics of niggly fouls are blatant diving. Was wondering the same.Without reading through the thread anyone know what kicked off with the steward? Watched him move along the touch line away from some Cov fans then it looked like he was given his marching orders as he shuffled off the pitch to the jibes of ' Cheerio! Cheerio! Cheerio!'

I'd like to see the introduction of the clock stopping when the ball is out of play - perhaps 2 x halves of 30 minutes of actual action, so the paying public get their money's worth!

Bentley of Bristol was booked within 30 mins for time wasting yesterday. Referee was on it because Sheffield united players were all over the referee from minute 1.I did this for the last 15 mins of a prem game to make a point to my mate. In the last 15 mins the ball was not in play, or play had stopped, for 9 minutes. About 3 minutes were added on.
What about playing maatsen in a more forward role with ohare ?We've seen enough of Dabo filling in as a centre back to know its not a good fit, but there was little other choice open to MR on Saturday, although Eccles could have been an alternative if he had more matches behind him following his injury. If that had happened though MR would undoubtedly have stuck with Dabo at RWB and Kane wouldn't have played, so in a roundabout way all worked out well on Saturday.
MR now has a real big decision to make. I can't see Dabo continuing as one of the back 3 moving forward, and Kane's performance warrants him staying in the team. Nevertheless Dabo will then be penalised for trying to adapt for the benefit of the team, with the result being him being dropped if Kane retains his RWB spot. I wonder whether MR will be tempted to drop/ rest Maatsen instead & play Dabo at LWB. Not sure of West Broms strengths down their right hand side as to whether MR will wans to go with a more defensive or offensive approach but can see that as a possibility.

I mentioned yesterday the whole team needs to get more streetwise about this.
Couldn't agree more. Sick of the sculduggery keepers get away with. When that Bournemouth wretch lay on the ground with his tactical injury I almost burst out laughing when the physio wandered on and eventually got round to stretching out his cramp. How the hell he got cramp from rolling the ball out and going for a Sunday stroll every time the ball went out for a goal kick was beyond me - just one big piss take.
Highlight for me was watching a competent ref demonstrating he was making note of the time which worked in our favour - I think teams may stop the second half theatrics as they know we can hurt them in injury time.
The same referee was 4th official at yesterdays chelsea game. (Im sure it looked like him) Was a good ref.
Surprised he was at another game next day.

That would at least ensure the correct amount of time is added, but It's more than just about trying to cut the time the ball is in play though. The other advantage gained from time wasting is the disruption to the flow of the opposition's game. it's difficult for the officials to control but blatant time wasting needs to be punished more. For once I think football needs to take a lead from rugby.
The time keeping should be taken away from the ref and done independently with a countdown clock in the stadium, being stopped when players are injured, substituted or blatant time wasting and when the clock is in the red play doesn't stop until the ball goes dead.
Fair bit of it about today.Probably gonna have to wait till March now mate
