"If you're ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie."
Devastating, my musical hero, a genius.
This is the first time I have actually cried and literally been in tears over an artist since John Lennon died.
Think I will be in stunned silence over this news for days to come.
As Eddie Izzard has said this morning, every radio station across the globe should dedicate their entire programming to the songs of David Bowie for the day.
He WAS that important.
Shouldn't it be on tomorrow?Good documentary on yesterday channel showing now.

Elton John? Now that Bowie has gone he has to be the last great music legend to pass away isn't he ? Elvis,Lennon, and now Bowie. Probably Dylan but he hasn't done a lot for years has he ?
Forgot about him probably he is a legend too. Can't stand her but Madonna is looked on as a pop icon isn't she ? But then again legend and icon are words used freely these days, but Bowie was a mixture of the two !Elton John?
Can't say I'm at all a fan, but he could be considered a legend for sure.

He has already gone. Same as Julian Gray.Don't forget Freddie.
Bowie was always ahead of his time.
Well Jagger anyway, yes and of course McCartney. The outpouring will be just as strong I would have thought when he goes.Paul McCartney, Jagger & the stones ?

Been talking tonight with my son about legends etc and how there aren't any real ones left now,he said I bet there are in the Jazz,Blues,Folk, and classical music genres ? He may have a good point there ?
Talking about this today and all said Bowie is the last iconic pop/rock star to pass away.Otis mentioned Elton John but as good as he is/was I don't see him anywhere near Bowie in my opinion.Been said a few times in the past 24 hours on radio and T.V. by music experts, that there's been four great music legends : Elvis,Lennon,Sinatra, and now Bowie.Who can argue with that ?You've still got half the Beatles and most of the Stones, Dylan's kicking about and of course S Club reunited.
Absolutely life defining to any three year old.I don't think you can separate Lennon from McCartney, Frog Chorus or no.
Don't bring the French into this ! McCartney is like Dylan all his best stuff is long gone don't you reckon ? And to me Lennon was the Beatles.I don't think you can separate Lennon from McCartney, Frog Chorus or no.
I get the Impression there is a trend developing of such Artists producing material or bringing such material together which has a deepness, slightly maudlin theme as the final approach comes into sight.Don't bring the French into this ! That Cash track called HURT is awesome and he recorded that near to his death,so you may have a point there ? Is Tom Jones on his way out then ?I get the Impression there is a trend developing of such Artists producing material or bringing such material together which has a deepness, slightly maudlin theme as the final approach comes into sight.
I'm thinking Johnny Cash, McCartney, Tom Jones and Bowie specifically.
No more than any other 70 something but he will be aware of life's finiteness. That Cash track called HURT is awesome and he recorded that near to his death,so you may have a point there ? Is Tom Jones on his way out then ?
