A) I haven't mentioned new homes, have I?
B) I haven't frothed at the mouth, I have literally said get the cunts off the motorway. You only come on here to post about Brexit and post memes about politics.
C) Isn't it possible for people to get their own homes insulated now?
People get information , the information spreads ,people do what people generally do they all look out for themselves .
They get their information from media ... full stop
So where does personal responsibility come into it?
Where does media responsibility come into it?
Of course people need to take responsibility but when you switch the TV on in the morning and they are going on about a crisis then it will make people panic. They really didn't and don't need to panic, just fill up as normal.
No it didn’t. You’ll be telling us next that mark almond had to have his stomach pumped after taking a line up of sailors.A radio transmission once caused a mass evacuation as people thought aliens were invading the earth
I have just given examples.
Is it big national news that a handful of petrol stations have run out of fuel? Enough to try and get the mass hysteria going? It's hardly censorship is it. It is pretty obvious to anybody with eyes how the media are trying to whip things up.
"Petrol Station Chaos"
"Tesco, Morrisons, BP, Shell, Texaco, Esso issue statements over fuel crisis"
"Fuel supply crisis live: Up to 90% of some brands 'running dry"
It's amazing how fucking thick people get when they can cry about Brexit.
No it didn’t. You’ll be telling us next that mark almond had to have his stomach pumped after taking a line up of sailors.
isn’t gammon as a term now officially defined as bigotry?
Fucking snowflakes.
The irony of using it as a statement of fact to argue that the media blow things out of proportion. The true story is it only went out live in one state, didn’t have huge listening numbers, a number of people rang the police, the police rang the radio station about a quarter of the way in to read a statement that it’s a fictional radio drama not a live news report which they promptly did. The press got hold of the story, blew it out of all proportion and the urban myth was born. Which grendull now states as a matter of fact. He probably knew a kid at school who got his head stuck in railings only to be anally raped by the first 20 people who stumbled across him.Not like Grenners to be at best in a long distance relationship with the truth
Did the 1938 Radio Broadcast of 'War of the Worlds' Cause a Nationwide Panic?

Its interesting that in a lot of the political threads we've had on there when it comes to discussing things like Brexit, 'the left', or anything else the idea that people aren't intelligent enough to digest a nuanced political standpoint is frowned upon. We're told voters aren't stupid and if you in any way believe they are then that's why you're on the losing side.I expect people to do exactly what they've done, confirm how stupid they are.
I don't think that anyone who votes left or right is stupid, everyone is entitled to a different opinion on how things should be run. Not sure how you square that off with people being too stupid to understand a basic statement about the availability of petrol, or toilet roll for that matter, and instead rushing out and buying everything they can because of some misleading clickbait headlines.

People going bananas over petrol and shit roll are stupid.

Very much agree.I think people who obsess over left or right are stupid though.
It's like they can't form an opinion without checking the politics first.

I don't particularly blame the media. I listen to 5 live in the morning on the way to work and they reported a few BP stations having issues but no shortages and buy as usual. At no point did I think that was a trigger to head up to the petrol station and fill my car with fuel just in case. The last year with the bog roll and KFC stuff has shown just how fucking stupid people are. We shouldn't have to dumb down the news to cater to the lowest common denominator.I expect people to do exactly what they've done, confirm how stupid they are.

Worth pointing out that in the last decade the Tories closed all local DVLA offices, centralised everything in Swansea, cut their budget under the failed austerity policy and started selling of DVLA services to the private sector. The MSM and government are doing a good job at pointing the finger at the DVLA while selectively ignoring the reasons why there’s a backlog. The problems were there pre Covid, this hasn’t suddenly sneaked up on the government, they’ve been the architects of it.DVLA sitting on 40,000 hgv applications .
We've also had a situation at work where people haven't been able to drive because DVLA haven't managed to renew their licenses .
Get back to fucking work Jesus wept

Found another person who thinks people who don't vote his way are thick. But you're saying that numerous people are stupid enough to be taken in by sensationalist reporting and start panic buying toilet rolls and fuel.
However, the very same people aren't thick enough to be taken in by lies and sensationalist reporting of EU immigration and are just making balanced, informed choices.
So, which is it? Are people thick or aren't they?
It's not about voting left or right, it's being taken for mugs time and time again by lies and misinformation.
Found another person who thinks people who don't vote his way are thick.
You have no idea why people vote the way they do and the panic buying of petrol and shit roll isn't a left/right divide as far as I'm aware.

I agree with you mate. The media plays its part at times but its the general public being daft more than anything.I don't particularly blame the media. I have no idea as I rarely read his twaddle but it sounds believable.Didn't dreamer once say the problem with democracy is it allows people to vote for people who are not going to represent them

How Sky news started reporting this , the statement in itself is misleading and extremely dramatic , it was about 1% of their fuelling stations
They've played a huge part
But HEY , gotta get those clicks for AD revenue

TBF though I don't read the papers, maybe they have played it up a lot worse. In which case they should be fined heavily if they've printed lies and not just have to print an apology 2 months later tucked away somewhere on page 17.I agree with you mate. Also tbf I'm watching ITV hamming it up a bit atm. People just need to show common sense though.TBF though I don't read the papers, maybe they have played it up a lot worse. Ok cool... I know why Guardian readers vote the way they do too. Luckily barely anyone reads either of those shit rags so its not really a problem is it.I know why Daily Express readers vote the way they do. View attachment 21990

Made the same point earlier. If you look at the timeline of events it was government ministers pushing this briefing that triggered the panic.Have to say, it was government saying don't panic buy, that made me convinced people would panic buy... and so they did.
DON'T PUSH THE RED BUTTON.
You've missed the point spectacularly. I was talking about the population as a whole, across the entire political spectrum.
I didn't say panic buying was left/right. It's going to be a mix.
You're the one that said people panic buying are stupid because they can't work out they're being manipulated by the media.
These are the same people that vote, whether it be left or right, that you claim are not stupid enough to be manipulated by lies and misinformation by politicians and are just making balanced, informed choices.
They are the same people. Either they're stupid enough to be taken in by misleading reports and misinformation or they're not.
If they're stupid enough to go and start panic buying because of a few sensationalist reports they're certainly stupid enough to be taken in by sensationalist politicians.
My message is consistent. People are stupid enough to panic buy so they're stupid enough to be taken in by politicians.
Your's isn't. People are stupid enough to panic buy but not stupid enough to be taken in by politicians.
Hardly aimlessly. Pre brexit yes we had a drivers shortage but we were managing, post brexit we no longer manage and the government’s only real fix is to partially reverse brexit and issue a few thousand visas to EU drivers who didn’t previously require them. If it had nothing to do with brexit the government would have other fixes.Half of this shit is just ranting over Brexit aimlessly.
