I'm a bit puzzled. Listened to the game on the radio, but didn't quite catch all 90 mins.

But at no point did I hear the CWR team talking about a contentious potential red card incident with one of our centre halves.

Recall Eakin talking about a bad James Bailey tackle that resulted in a yellow, but not much else.

Laws said;

"It was the one major decision to be made - whether their centre-half stays on the park when he's actually chopped Andy Barcham across the neck, which is a clear one.
"Everybody has seen that it should have been a sending off. That could have changed the game completely and it was a major talking point and the referee got it wrong."

Any SBT poster at the game have an opinion/slant on this?

According to the Beeb, Bailey was our only player booked.

I understood that there was a near call for a penalty. Was that it? I don't recall anything else.

He was spot on, ball played in behind edge who for me took out their player just outside the box, clear foul and potential red card, neither given.

In the first half one of their forwards was, I thought, obstructed just on the edge of the box. Ref gave nothing and his decision is final, as we all know.

Wasn't that the point where edgy and one of their players ran into each other. And they thought that edgy might have pulled him down?

So not even booked then.

The ref completely missed it then I take it? Was a free kick given?

Eakin on CWR didn't even mention any bad tackle by Edge.

Was at the game and yes, it was a really nasty tackle. Nowhere near the penalty area but I was concerned that it may well end in a red.

Ref was quite clear in stating to all appealing players that te two players crossed paths legitimately. No free kick, no cards.

Edge did get lucky but ref had a good view.

Note that although Edge would have lost his man for pace, i dont think he was last man (not that the others would have caught up tho).

If anything, the Bailey one looked more dangerous to me. Lost possession and chopped his man. Got a yellow which was deserved but had their player been a foreigner and rolled round countless times, things may have been worse

It was definetly a foul, Edge chopped their striker across the neck as he running in on goal.

However... Brian Laws has got to be one of the most bitter, deluded managers in existence. He can never admit his team have been beaten fairly, remember various games from the past where we've beaten his Burnley and Wednesday teams and there's always some minor incident he obsesses after the game and thinks his team have 'dominated'

Granted todays was a foul, but it's hard to feel for the guy

Just a pathetic excuse for his team's lose.

Had they won, he'd say fuck all about it!

... Much like the Bury assistant manager...

Oh and just after I typed I've read that he thinks Scunthorpe 'dominated' the first half. They dominated the first 15 minutes, but after that were dreadfully poor and even though we were shit, I'd say we shaded the half from 15 mins +

Such a shit manager, always someone elses fault when his teams lose

Id say they had the better of the first half. Probably for atleast 40 minutes of it. We turned up far too late and took too long to get started.

Overall though our play was better

Unfortunately most managers use 'the ones they didnt get' as excuses too many times in the game so hes not alone

I'm glad MR wasn't like that and I hope Pressley isn't, but he's Scottish, angry and close to Fergie...

The first half was a pretty dour display from both teams really. I thought their right winger was the best player on the pitch, but from 15 mins+ I'd say the half evened up and we slowly got into the game.

Second half was a much better display, deserved the win in the end.

First half they could have murdered us but sat too deep after their goal and paid for it. I was ecstatic to go in 1-1 at the break but on 90 mins balance we deserved win. On the edge tackle it was a foul but with martin coming across I don't think it was a red anyway.

To be fair it was mentioned on the Radio. Eakin was saying it may have just been an accidental clash but the normal Partisan Foster did say that Edge looked like he was strangling their forward so we may have got lucky.

I was worried for the first 20 mins. or so but after that we pretty much ran the show. As a Cov. fan you are always worried every time the opposition attack but at the end of the day we deserved the win.

I know Tony Bates personally and will be giving him a call tomorrow to ask what he actually thought or seen of the Edge event, as from where we were sitting it did look awkward.

This is the same ref who went of injured last year and the female linesperson came onto ref.
