I think that is harsh and you're wrong. He wasn't a spectacular player by any stretch but was fairly reliable, and actually decent from set pieces.

Harsh, but fair. He was a poor player who would have struggled to get in most lower league sides if not for Strachan, who remarkably kept picking him.

Sorry torchy but that's nonsense. He was playing in the top flight and second tier with Luton before us.

I've mentioned it before but funnily enough him getting injured was the catalyst for Villa beating us the day we went down, ultimately that result was academic but Telfer was great in that game (until he got injured).

I've always looked at Telfer as someone who you couldn't match for effort, but ability-wise he was very fortunate to rack up so many top flight games. Another one of Strachan's favourites who really should have been replaced at some point in the five years that Strachan was in charge. I'd also put Williams and (realise this might not be a popular one) Shaw in the same 'should have been replaced' bracket.

Didn't Telfer go into coaching at one point? I heard from a local journalist that he had and he was trying to get some coverage in the local press - despite the fact that apparently when he was here he had absolutely no time for the local press.

With Bright being under 24 they would've been due compensation for him regardless, whether they believe they can get more from triggering a contract extension is to be seen.

No they wouldn't. If they hadn't triggered the extension or offered him a new contract on at least the same wages they get no compensation at all. Otherwise every team would just take on a huge amount of kids and release them so they'd be due compo.

Not true, if he had merely been released by them no compensation would be due.

Tbf playing against city. Didn't have time to caption it. Apparently some wolves fans still don't forgive him

But asked if his contract situation rules him out of a possible return to the Sky Blues, chief executive Dave Boddy insisted: “Absolutely not!

“We could still potentially buy him or take him on loan again.

“It depends on what he wants to do really.

"I think Wolves are waiting to see what he does.”

Very positive. They must feel they have a realistic chance commenting publicly.

Maybe, but not sure what Wolves gain from that as they'd lose him on a free at the end of the season. Part of me wonders whether they extended him to try to get a fee for him, whether from us or someone else.

That sounds positive. You wouldn't normally talk about a former loan player like that unless you were at least trying to get him back.

Maybe we are just waiting for everything to aline to announce bright.

What’s going to happen is Bright will zip line in to the Ricoh wearing the new kit. Just before he lands he kicks a giant wasp to announce our new club sponsor rentokil.

Boom 4 announcements at once.

All of which means that we will start the season without him but clinging on to the prospect that he might come before the end of the first month?

I lost count of the amount of simple 5 yard passes that went straight to the opposition. He passing was absolutely terrible for a professional footballer.

The best thing I can say about him was that he had a good engine.

Bright loves it at Cov so I doubt St Andrews will make a huge difference especially as the surface will suit his game
The problem is he's been offered over £20k a week by Wolves
Can't really see a way forward unless he signs for them and they loan him to us again with us paying only a small percentage of his wages

Why would they offer him a contract like that when they’ve been able to trigger an extension clause?

Besides, if they’re willing to pay him £20k a week they need their heads checking. No wonder the game’s completely gone.
