Decent game so far, no idea Kayal from Celtic was now at Brighton.

Anyway, the game doesn't interest me that much, the thing what interests is me is the staggering growth of Brighton's crowds in the last 5 years. They have managed to attract/gain an extra 20,000 fans. From 1986-2011 they did not have more than 10,000 fans once. I understand that a new stadium will attract more fans but not 20,000 more.

Does anyone know the reasons behind this?

The opposite reasons to why were declining, Amazing what a bit of success and decent running from the owner's nice new stadium a million miles away from the dump they played at and investment on the pitch.

The new stadium would have had an impact and i wouldn't be surprised if they are the most visited away ground in the Championship with people taking the opportunity to have a cheeky weekend in Brighton.

It cant be the cost though as both ST's and Matchday tickets are relatively expensive.

They havent even been that successful , a League One promotion. Plenty of teams have been promoted but not had that kind of rise, we certainly won't.

The club moved away and came back. It didn't have its own ground for years and was struggling, so it made people appreciate what they could easily lose.

Brighton is a quality place FFS, I hope you were joking ? I went to the athletics track a few years ago on spec { down on business } to see Brighton v Hull City, couldn't get a ticket for love nor money, there was a waiting list. The support has always been there but restricted whilst they waited for ever for planning permission.

The majority of locals support Brighton and are very proud of their club. The whole city has a buzz to it when they are at home.

They were playing in Gillingham and now play outside of Brighton. The a lot on this forum would have a abandoned them if it was ccfc. They have been through a worse time than ccfc and show there is actually hope at the end of all this.
