Got talking to a few Bristol lads in the Wheatsheaf and they were impressed by the Ricoh but they said why we haven't got more supporters ? I thought about saying it was because of this and that etc but just came out with it's because we're crap.And they all nodded and agreed !

Downward spiral for 12 years
owners removing the club from its city
club stripped of its best players
no top 6 for 40 odd years
playing dire football .
losing and 17th in league 1 without a clue of where the next victory is coming from .
all the off field wrangling between the council ACL and SISU
Never anything to look forward to or make you actually want to go
Council selling the stadium to another cities team and supporting franchise sport .
I also believe price has a small part to play aswel , people genuinely cant afford it

all pretty much why our support is woeful , our attendances are down from an average of 21300 in 2007 to i would say around 9000 now but pobably lower .

Since we've been relegated, Bristol have had a promotion got to the play offs for the premiership are on target for another promotion have an owner investing in the club and the team. Compare that to where we are now and have been since 2001 and where we are likely to be going in the next few years.

I think we have great supporters but the attendances reflect where the club are at present. CCFC is not a good afternoons entertainment. There will always be the Die Hard Fans who will always attend but most of us are not that committed and go to football to enjoy themselves.

Would you go to see a bad film, eat in a bad restaurant, drink in a pub that has seen better days, shop where the goods are expensive and the service terrible? and then commit to do that week after week?

The people of coventry have shown on the past that they will turn out even at the slightest upturn of fortune, but those are days are now few and far between.

Come on SISU give us something worth watching

Really cant disagree with any of these points, and understand why for the reasons stated we have low attendances. But we do rise and fall together and if we had 21k fans still, we would have funds and a better team.

You feel if sisu received the revenue of 21k fans , they'd invest some of that in the team ?

Think the Bristol fans should be asking why they top of the league only got 12000 last weekend.

Yup as said above, our stadium is currently undergoing redevelopment and we have a whole stand missing, plus 4 blocks in another stand closed due to work starting there early next year. Our capacity now is only 14,000 with 1,000/1,500 being away seats. So when/if you come to Ashton gate next year you'll be sat in the stand opposite to the one you were on your last visit. So yeah, we're never going to have anymore than 13,000 fans at a home game this season.

I like the bit where you say when/if you come to your place next year.The way we're playing we'll be playing your rival Bristol Rovers very soon !

I went for free Saturday and that was too expensive for that shite.
Won't be going again until there's big changes at the club and I don't mean sacking the manager.

Yes they would invest some 100%. They will not get rich from us being a lower league team.
Since we relegated their whole aim has been to make us live within our means so we become a cost neutral business in their portfolio.

We have had to cut our cloth accordingly due to falling revenues, most of which has been their fault, but with an eye on the greater good (cheap Ricoh which backfired). If they had more money coming in I am sure they would use most of this for getting us up the leagues. Why would they not or are you one of the fans who think they are happy with our current plight?

I think Pressley saying he wants to keep hold of the youngsters that shine could be a pointer .

In the short term ,regardless of being "home" ,on the current crowds we will need to raise at least a couple of mill In sales to run an average L1 team with say a player budget of £1.5M .

Longer term If we managed to hold the kids that excel we may get a chance of Promotion from L2 ,as that's where I'd suggest we'd end up initially under that policy .

so we will have to sell anyone of value to try and maintain the current level .

There will be no Investment above what we generate ,from the look of things

Agreed. It seems we are running at a almost breakeven state at the minute. Wilson's and Clarke's transfers, plus all the wages saved from the likes of Baker etc, and loans brought in, we can't be far off breakeven surely?

Apart from the interest of SISU/ARVO loans :whistle:

Any profits are going who knows where.

Please bare in mind I'm clinicly depressed and very drunk at the moment but what is there to look forward to? In the old days I used football as an escape from the train wreck that is my life. These days it seems the football just exacerbates things and it's very hard to be enthused by what's going on on the pitch. At the end of the day it's supposed to be a few hours where you can forget all the other crap in your life but ccfc in its current guise is just another bit of my life which is soul destroying. I'll probably cheer up a little once sober but for now, meh

I didn't mean that as a dig that I think you're going down. Only we play you next year. You won't go down either, you'll sort yourself out as you have some decent players, plus there are about 6/7 teams a hell of a lot worse than yourselves. Crewe have already booked their league 2 spot (IMO), and I'd imagine Scunny and Port Vale will fall. You lot don't need to worry yet! We we're bottom of the league on Christmas day last year! and ended up finishing in the top half. Although I am shocked you are where you are, thought you might have been challenging in the play offs at least.

This is indeed the point, unfortunately even if we had 21K gates, the money still wouldn't be invested in the team, it would end up in the Cayman Islands, which is exactly why this club will do nothing until SISU have gone.
