As would Armstrong.I think in their prime Clarke and Mcgoldrick would have ran riot in this formation
Why cant you just accept it's not good enough. So is it more a case of we are playing a lone striker who is better suited to a 2 striker system?
Ivan toney couldn't do it at wigan but is very good at peterborough... Style of play and system has to be a main factor

If he was missing sitter after sitter I'd accept it wasn't good enough, we have played 3 or 4 strikers so far this season and none of them are returning the goods... Why?
Matty godden scored goals at every club, why isn't it happening here like it should?
Wouldn't you be better getting a contraption to do that, you'll be there for hours.Just leaving to blow a foot of snow off my driveway. Check back later
This is poor in anyone's book.

For me this is the worrying thing. With McNulty he missed chance after chance but you could see he was making good runs, getting in good positions. Goddens had 1 shot in his last 3 games. He's not involved. He had a good ball put into him yesterday and couldnt control it.
Last season was his first in league one all his goals have been non league or league 2.

Has godden even scored many in the 6 yard box??
I don't know. I think his issue is he has no real outstanding attribute. He's not quick enough to really trouble defenders, and he's not strong enough to put himself about. He also isnt someone who's gonna smash one in from distance like McGoldrick or Armstrong.Who could we bring in* that’s better? Genuine question, trying to think of alternatives myself. It’s really tough, and I’d prefer to have our own player rather than a loan.
*acknowledging the window is shut so, in practice, nobody.

The Birmingham game is a good example, their back 4 were big and strong, he didnt have a kick, but as soon as Biamou came on who's bigger and stronger we began to win some ball up top.

He's a huge-lunged freak of nature.Wouldn't you be better getting a contraption to do that, you'll be there for hours.
Drop godden, give biamou the game time, watch the Same happen over the course of 10 games... Rinse repeat
Don’t understand this critism of Godden he has a roll for the team which he does well. He creates space by working the line, stretches opposition defenders, set up the Walsh goal yesterday. This is poor in anyone's book.

Tbf, we're crying out for some genuine pace in this team. Yes, he missed a lot of chances but I dont understand why he's been totally bombed out by Robin's.None of the strikers have a scoring record anywhere other than Hiwula
I was thinking this, he would have a field day in this team, what he has and what is lacking in our strikers is the pace to create a goal for himselfAs would Armstrong.

Look at the great Liverpool team their number 9 Firminio they say is first name on the team sheet doesn’t score that many goals but creates the space for Mane and Sala, yes I know different class of players but basically that’s what Goddens role is, he will score more goals. When McNulty got his 28 goals the return from others especially midfield was pathetic. We are playing well, winning games, last years team wouldn’t have won yesterday, it’s working why change.
He scored in 11 of his first 27 games. He then went on a 12 game drought before scoring last games of the season. He went through 1 long period of not scoring. He was also an 18 year old lad, and the whole team dipped. He missed a lot of chances in that period.Armstrong went through long periods of not scoring though, scored in 3 of 18 matches at one point ? Similar issue really
He didn't score in 28 league games from 40

Agree the formation is making his life hard. I guess there are 2 agreements that can be made.I looked this up, he scored 6 in 9 since he returned from injury, 2 of those games he played a combined total of 28 minutes... So he's scored in 2 of the last 7 starts and scored 6.
He's not scored for 4 matches....and like you said he's had 1 shot in 3 matches... So where is he supposed to score there's no service inside the box to his feet at all
It's also worth pointing out that he played well off Bakayoko at tranmere in the second half at tranmere. I think he's struggling as a lone striker myself

He also looked head an shoulders above league one standard. Godden looks like an average league one striker.
Armstrong would score for fun in this team.
I'm not even saying Goddens rubbish, just that his current contribution isn't good enough.

Lame.He was good in his first season here. He wasn't so good after that aside from when we won at Old Trafford. Abysmal is OTT but par for the course with you

I've been a City supporter since 1963. I've seen many managers come and many managers go, but for me Jimmy Hill will always be my favourite. Having said that, Mark Robins is coming up fast and will no doubt take over as the "historical" fans favourite manager ever - including me! He has done a tremendous job with limited resources. We've had to play home games at Sixfields and now Stan's. It hasn't stopped him doing the job. I was one of those who, when he returned to us after that seemingly sneaky move to Uddersfield a few seasons ago, said "I bet he'll be gone again in six months!" Well, I eat my words! The man is a genius! Even if the worst happens and we somehow miss promotion (which I now doubt!), I believe he would still stay with us and try again.
Carry on Mark! PUSB!
SISU / Council / Stingers etc really need to start talking to each other urgently. We simply cannot afford to lose MR now, and I think he will go if the situation continues. I really believe that the squad hugely respect him and his decisions. Who would we get if he left? It would be a downward spiral straight away. We need our own ground as a matter of urgency.Agree, but listening to Mark Robins interview on CWR when he meets Joy Seppala he is going want to see some action re the Ricoh and a firm commitment to the budget to invest in the squad for next season and if he doesn't, I think he will go.
He won't have a problem getting a job at another club .

Hughes? One of them players who came with a big reputation as he had a brief flurry at Arsenal and a bit part at Everton, got found out at Watford and Charlton and was abysmal here.
