Sky Blues in the Community have recently been successful in receiving funding from the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund to run a brand new project within Coventry and Warwickshire.

The project, ran in conjunction with Coventry and Warwickshire CDA, is aimed at assisting those furthest from employment to gain the relevant skills and qualifications needed to access learning, training, volunteering and job opportunities.

The Accelerate project will run in several cohorts over the next two years, and will help enable participants to overcome complex barriers to employment. Support will be targeted and individualised, with each participant receiving one-to-one guidance from a journey guide as well as tutoring from fully qualified SBitC coaches. The participants will finish the course with a Level 1 Sports Leaders coaching qualification, as well as taking part in a variety of workshops based around Literacy and Numeracy and Employability skills.

Participation is limited to those who are unemployed or economically inactive and want to gain the skills required to become job ready. Each participant will be engaged for six weeks and will receive two Coventry City tickets at the successful completion of the programme.

For more information on the programme or to register your interest please contact Andrew Hopcroft (Training & Skills Officer) on 02476 786 349 or email
