Nothing like a pre match debate, who gets your vote? Stick or twist?

For me I'd like to give O'Brien another run, I'm a bit concerned by how much last weeks error has dented his confidence after a hammering from several team mates on the pitch.

Not a lot between the two keepers on ability but it's all about confidence today in a big game and O'Brien will be confident from his last start v Stoke so gets my vote.

Think it will be Burge, but hope he's had his butt severely kicked after last week.

Mistakes we can live with, but suicidal attempts to rush off your line to try and get to balls you haven't got a cat in hell's chance of ever reaching, we simply cannot tolerate.

Just wondering if it has knocked his confidence and if so, how much.

This is my only concern due today, his confidence.

Will he go back to like last season and be glued to his line and not make any decisions. He did take a hammering from Doyle, Stokes and Davies I think we're the 3 main ones on the pitch and we will never know what was said at half time in the changing rooms

It’ll be Burge. Yes he made a mistake and yes I’d prefer O’Brien, but Robins won’t change it anytime soon, not unless Burge repeats last weeks calamity then we might see a change in the next league game (expect O’Brien will play next week in the cup in line with the change of keeper for cup games)

I’ve never really got into the anti Burge debates on here and accept cock ups happen but last weeks was bizarre to say the least not just the fluffed kick-out that happens but everything afterwards, wrong position, dancing round the post he just seemed to lose it. Wouldn’t surprise me if it cost him his place.

Honestly so every time a keeper makes a mistake let' stop him.
Same as every week a striker misses a sitter or doesn' shoot let's drop him.
We should have been 3 nil up last week that mistake shouldn't have mattered.

It did matter though. The strikers have to do their bit and try and score and the keeper needs to do his bit and try and keep the ball out of the net.

Can't blame the strikers for Burge's error.

I don't rate him very highly at all, but am not very harsh on him for the most part, but that mistake last week was truly shocking and one of the worst I have witnessed.

From my point of view the question needs to be asked as to what damage it's done to his confidence. A huge 6 pointer before a break from the league is a vital game to go into.

The defence needs absolute confidence in his keeper behind, and a manager needs his keeper to make the right decisive decision in a split second. The way Doyle, stokes and Davies all responded to Burge last week after his error and questionable decisions suggests there was issues.

Last weeks error was costly and yes the strikers failed to score, but you cannot go into games saying if we score 3 that should compensate for any errors and see us home and dry.

Your gonna get tight games and that was one, we lost due to a error.

Another point is RCC plays for Swindon and knows Lee Burge inside out and will know his weaknesses which I'm sure he will of relayed to his gaffer.

A confidence shot keeper with weaknesses is not a good recipe... MR is the judge tho and I'm sure he will call it how he sees it and had the benefit of the weeks training to assess his confidence and response on the training field and team briefings.

At least Burge got to the ball, it was a terrible kick though.

O'Brien at yeovil completely missed it then proceeded to take out our own player to leave a completely empty net.

I can't believe people want O'Brien back even after those mistakes earlier in the season and he could so easily have cost us against Stoke.

Ideal situation would be a new keeper is brought in

But it does matter imo.
Doesn't matter who you have in goal they will make mistakes not like it is every week.
We are a div 4 side with no money yet you all expect a prem keeper, Btw they also make mistakes.
So if he keeps a clean sheet every week but we don't score still no good for us and he would get snapped up and wecare back to square one another dodgy keeper trying to keep clean sheets and getting dropped for one mistake in what 8-10 games not bad really.
Shame he could be a great goalievbut some on Here would just say drop him I don' like him.

I know the response want to me but I think we're getting sidetracked onto the mistakes made argument. That's another conversation completely.

That's been and done now, it's all about the confidence of the individual. We've all seen what a confidence shot Lee Burge can do.

The point on that is Burge has no right to get to the ball and the very presence of him was enough to confuse Jordan Willis who had it covered and then lost sight of the ball as Burge came.

Burge applied the brakes tho and didn't deal with it well enough.

Should he play yes, you could tap into his weaknesses to benefit ccfc.

I fully agree, neither keeper is good enough, but O'Brien is worse, it's quite funny how both of their mistakes are exactly the same so we can compare which is worse.

Is he tho? Is he worse than Burge? We've not seen enough of him or seen him on the training ground.

It's not a great endorsement to compare identical errors I agree.

He's played less, cost us equal amount of points, looked awful, and only looked good when the defence was rock solid and didn't allow a shot against us. He played 4 games, 2 of which the opposing team didn't have a shot and the next 2 games, the opposing teams have 3 shots and we concede 3 goals with 2 major errors occurring. I think this debate is redundant as neither are good enough and both need replacing.
