He's never been one of our better players. Regardless of yesterday's result he's always been subject to a bit on here. He's a good shot stopper, nothing more. He looked better last season but in terms of level he was playing at he should of. I don't think he's anymore than an average L1 GK. If we genuinely want promotion, then forking out for a) A proven, experienced GK and b) A proven, experienced striker are a necessity.
Continuing with Burge and Chaplin will see us finish no higher than mid table unfortunately.
this..... in terms of priorities, strikers (probably more than 1) are far more required than a GK at the moment - I dont believe Burge would stop us getting the play offs - scoring no goals most certainly will. We have bigger issues than Burge

Agree with the system comment but unsure that's the only issue.
We can't say we haven't created chances...we can say the strikers we have couldn't put them away though! Blackpool alone we should have had 2 goals, crap system or not.
we had 13 shots to Blackpools 3
Plymouth 13 shots to their 21
Wimbledon 12 shots to their 6
38 shots on goal in 3 games and only 2 converted (one from a set piece) not a good enough conversion rate?

No, we do miss some shockers (see Chaplin and JCH).
How many of the shots are actually blocked or half arsed because they aren't in a good shooting position? We try to pass it around too much and then take a shot when they have about 10 players in front of it.
We paid hundreds of thousands for 3 strikers and he persists with 1 up front who misses week after week.
Stick 2 up front working with each other and see where it gets us.
Maybe, but the strikers were still missing chances when Burge wasn't making errors.
Personally, it's far harder for a defender than a striker. You can play like a hero for an entire game, slip in injury time and cost your team. Strikers can be useless and have a shot hit them on the arse and go in and they'll be off celebrating like they're the only reason the team won.
Strikers tend to be incredibly narcissistic and self-absorbed, defenders more team based. There are plenty who'd gladly taken a goal in a defeat than a win they didn't score in (though they'd never admit it). They care about getting goals and don't care that much about if they go in at the other end.
