Can't just be that he has a house down here, that doesn't need him to attend our games and there are often Prem games on TV that he can view. Does he still socialise with the current Cov players ? Has moving to Sheffield Utd improved his game ? Or just his wallet ?

All good points. Whatever he decides will be a learning point. I think if he enjoys his game ahead of his money. He’d stay. If city keep him, we should find a good insurance company.

If we don't go up, he's 100% gone, if he was going to buy into us again next year and another chance at promotion, he'd have already signed the contract.

I'm not sure how many offers he'll have, the step up is huge and there's not many teams in the prem that he'd be getting game time, one of the promoted teams maybe or the likes of Luton if they manage to stay up.

He's obviously got to take his chance like Hamer did, but whether he cuts it in the prem is a different question...

He wouldn’t get in ahead of KDH at Leicester already and all 3 teams will strengthen again in the summer.

I think fans forget the gap between the premier league and the championship is enormous.

Hamer ripped up the championship last year but if he wasn’t an ex City player you would not have noticed him at the Blades this season. Last match he started on the bench. Sheffield United are the worst team to grace the Premier league in decades and he still doesn’t stand out.

His form has been scintillating with some superb dribbling moves and finishing to follow. One thing to bear in mind when comparing Hamer is that he was making that impact further back. I’m nit picking here but COH does need to add some more assists to his game and I’d like to see his chance creation stats too.

I’m not sure he would. Is he he better player than Piroe or Dewsbury-Hall? I’d say no. As for Southampton, he probably is better than Smallbone who looks the most like-for-like. But I don’t know that team really.

Last season, there was no doubt that Hamer and Gyokeres would start and improve any team in the division.

From the outside looking in, I do think COH could be best served by agreeing to a new contract. Unless there is a Prem team/European top division team who want him to be a starter from Day 1.

If it’s Luton, Burnley, Sheffield U or a team like Forest? I wouldn’t bother because we’ll leapfrog some of these teams in the next couple of seasons imo.

I think we have some sky blue tinted glasses sometimes... i'm not saying he's not a great player but to assume he would start for the "promoted" teams i think is wrong.

Leeds have Summerville, Rutter and Gnonto
Southampton have Adams and Armstrong
Leicester have Dewsbury Hall, Mavididi, Fatawu

I'm not sure any of those clubs would drop any of those players for O'Hare - i wouldn't (ignoring slightly different positions/formations in some instances) - they would definitely be interested in him as a squad player though, but then is that what he's after!?

Exactly my point. If we got promoted this season we need to invest in a lot of players.

With COH too, it’s a goal scoring patch that’s he’s never had before so for all people know, it could just be that. A purple patch. No one was really willing to spend substantial sums on Gyokeres after his first season probably because of that.

Not necessarily. It's pretty sure he will go, but there is absolutely no benefit in him signing a contract with us before the end of the season even if he is considering staying. He knows he will get better offers at the end of the season, including from us. And he knows we will try our best to match whatever he is offered elsewhere.

The benefit being if he gets injured in the next 20 games he would still have a contract past this summer - low risk probably

i get your point he will get better offers in the summer elsewhere, i think that's guaranteed, and why i think he wont be here next season. i don't think we will offer him any more unless we get promoted, Doug will have already done what he can to keep him as a championship club.

Don’t think so Wingy. Can’t imagine Robins not telling Doug that’s where he wants to put his budget. More likely either he’s asking for something we can’t provide or it’s about football. He’s football mad and still lives with his parents so I’m guessing the latter.

There will be some top new player signings this summer, if Robins believes he can do better than COH he’ll go with that.
For me though COH is a top player who adds that club love I’d love him to stay.

1 or 2 year deal (to cover him for injury absence) but with a clause to allow him to talk to Prem clubs if they come in for him.

Read on Twitter that he has had an offer from another club. This early though, that has to be a foreign based team as they're the only ones who can offer pre-contracts.

Football is a contact sport. And as has already been mentioned, he is a target for defenders so if he gets injured again this season, the club are not required to support him after his contract ends (they probably will but they don't legally have to). And if he's injured, why would we want to offer a contract extension to pay him when he can't play for 3, 6 or another 12 months ? And it's very unlikely that any other club would make an offer as well in those circumstances.

Signing a 1 yr gives the player income security and the assurance of support if needed and with the release clause, means he can still consider other offers. Until that offer comes in though, we keep a player that is an important part of our setup.

Forget about the possibility of Cal getting injured , as of the other night , Jamie Allen is probably out for the season, it’s what comes with the territory.
My main problem with all the contract talks etc , is what figure do you put on a replacement for Callum & is there anyone out there , that won’t take 2 seasons to acclimatise to the heights we are at ?

Why would he need to sign that? He can speak to prem sides in 4 months and no fee involved

I get the fixation and sentiment with COH but if we really are a club on the up then we ought to start having some respect for ourselves and not suggesting pushing ourselves beyond our limits and beyond what's sensible when a player simply wouldn't do the same for us. We can't expect loyalty in football when players careers are so short that realistically they need to furnish themselves with as much £ in that period and who can blame them? I do understand the 1 year security suggestion but that's just a risk that appears to be playing out.

Sounds like COH has been offered the limit we can go to. I'd love him to stay because he comes with the addition of an infectious personality which is less common but there will be more players in the future that will come in and we'll adore - our newish recruitment setup appears to be bearing some fruit already on that.

I don’t know what the latest wage offer is none of us do.
I’d offer him parity at least with our highest paid player maybe thats what is what is narking him, a 2/3 year deal doesn’t need release clauses anyone in the PL if they wanted him would just pick up the phone, negotiate and buy him.

As well as a football club we are a business too we must remember that, letting a player like COH go for free has to be crazy and throwing millions away, his replacement could cost millions too a bit of a dummy whammy, could be as much as £20million+ all told, madness.

He’s ready for the prem I think at someone like a Crystal Palace, imagine that midfield wow Eze, Olise, O’hare. Thats a thing of nightmares for defences

Palace will have a new manager rumour at the moment is Steve Cooper who will know COH they have just spent about £ 20 million on Blackburns Adam Wharton would they want COH too, I expect the Palace war chest for a new manager to be pretty strong.
