Fox News and desert heat.Gazolba fascinates me.
Why?I highly doubt he'd get called up to the Euro's even if that were the case
Why?
He's been in the last few squads, scored on his debut, seems a good lad to have around the squad, and with Kane potentially out, Rashford having to come back from a serious injury and Vardy retired, I would be surprised if he didnt make the squad, even if he stays at Bournemouth
So what? He's also had a poor season in front of goal this year. Players don't get called up to the England squad because of their form in seasons gone by anymore - look at Dele Alli's exclusion in recent friendlies as a case in point for this. In terms of strikers and forward players there are a fair few that are heads and shoulders way above Wilson in the pecking order this year.
Rashford will probably be fit in time for the Euro's. Kane is 50/50 but apparently his op went well and he does have a history of returning from early quicker than expected so I wouldn't rule him out.
Then there's also Ings, Abraham, and Calvert Lewin who have been in great form this year. Then for forwards there's Sancho, Sterling and Husdon Odoi and even Mason Greenwood has been touted as a surprise wildcard inclusion.
So, why would you be surprised? In the last friendly Southgate took 7 forwards. Strikers: Kane, Abraham, Wilson. Forwards: Sterling, Rashford, Sancho, Husdon Odoi. Who do you see Wilson replacing out of the 7 names that I've mentioned - and that's not including Kane or Rashford?
As a hunch... he might replace that Wilson guy you've mentioned
maybe that 'Husdon' Odoi chap - never herd of him
yes, herd. That was the point. Spelling. Get it?Herd?
yes, herd. That was the point. Spelling. Get it?
Are you purposely trying to be thick?
You asked me out of the 7 names which one he would replace.... He doesnt need to replace one of them because he is one of the 7 names
yes, but if he wasn't one of the 7 names, and not including 2 of the others, which one would he replace - thicko! You asked me out of the 7 names which one he would replace.... He doesnt need to replace one of them because he is one of the 7 names
isn't that 9 names?I meant Ings, Abraham, Calvert-Lewin, Sancho, Sterling, Hudson-Odoi, Greenwood.
I meant Ings, Abraham, Calvert-Lewin, Sancho, Sterling, Hudson-Odoi, Greenwood.
Greenwood for a start, especially in the original scenario where he was playing regularly for United, meaning Greenwood wouldn't likely be playing.
I also think he's a better player than Ings and Calvert-Lewin (although they are both in better goal scoring form at the minute). Southgate has also used Wilson as a wide forward at times, which you wouldn't see Ings playing as.
So if he went to Utd and scored 10 goals in the record half of the season you think he would be overlooked? England love to pick players from so called bigger clubs. It's how Lingard etc got so many caps! If Wilson went and was a success he would be very much in contention but that's just my view.I highly doubt he'd get called up to the Euro's even if that were the case

Some fair points and I have specific desire for him to go. My point is if he was playing well for a top end premier league club he would have a much greater probability of making the squad.I'm not saying, nor have I said he would be overlooked if he went to United and scored 10+ goals in half a season because he probably would be in contention, yes. But it's non-sensical to use that argument because it's hypothetical. Like for instance, if I wanted to counter that point I could literally just say, 'well what if Vardy came out of retirement, then Wilson definitely be left out of the squad'. Or, 'what if Troy Deeney scored in every game between now and the of the season then surely he'd be in contention to get ahead of Calvert-Lewin, Wilson or even Abraham?'. In football like in life you have to deal with the facts in front of you, not hypothetical assumptions that aren't true.
You don't even have to take my word for it. Listening to pundits, journalists and Premier League managers, they all suggest that the likes of Ings, Calvert-Lewin and Abraham are the 3 strikers that are in contention to make the Euros squad as it stands. Wilson is barely mentioned. Obviously club managers, journalists and pundits don't have the final decision on the squad, that's down to Southgate. But I think the correlating views of the experts (that have far more knowledge about the game that you or I) is a clear indication of how far down Wilson is in the pecking over. So, assuming Southgate calls up 7 forwards (including Ings, Calvert-Lewin and Abraham), as he has done previously in international games, I just don't see who Wilson would get ahead of given his current form and the form of those in his position - this applies even more so now that Rashford has himself confirmed that he's likely to be back before the end of the season.
Plus that's assuming he does take 7 forwards. There's talk of Southgate maybe cutting a forward from the squad and instead taking one more midfielder in order to accommodate the likes of Grealish, Maddison and Mount - just to add insult to injury.
Whilst I agree that in the past there's been a clear bias towards picking players from bigger clubs I think Southgate has made the selection system fairer and has tried to shift away from this tradition. Hence why in recent years he's included the likes of, Heaton, Pope, D. Henderson, Dunk, Mings, Keane, Ward-Prowse, Rice, and even Wilson just to name a few. Plus the exclusion of Alli and Lingard at the back end of last year also proves this point.
Don't get me wrong I'd love Wilson to make the Euros but I just can't see it and I feel that many fans on this thread, including you, are looking at him through rose tinted spectacles.
